A new weight class....

Who the hell would even be natural for a SHW division? Butterbean and maybe Akebono?

I don't want a SHW division, but TBH Hunt, BigFoot, former champ Lesnar and probably some other cut to make 265

Unfortunately they've done super heavyweight in the past and it turns into a shitshow of zero cardio and guys gassing in 20 seconds.
"But what a 20 seconds it is...." - Me to my girlfriend.

The UFC would totally entertain the thought of adding a SHW division if the athletes insisted that the win bonuses were McDonald's or Wendy's coupons.

Didn't the only guy to submit Mark Hunt in the UFC (Sean McCorkle) have to retire from the UFC due to not being able to make the 265 pound HW limit? iirc, he WAS in the one and olny UFC SHW division fight in history!

why on earth is there a 265 limit anyways? there's no upper limit in boxing or BJJ (although there is a limit in olympic wrestling.)

it's hard enough as is to find good big men. why force them to cut weight to reach 265?

My guess is that if there is no cap then the belt is more likely to change hands because Cain could beat everyone under 300 for example, then a guy 350 shows up and he is just TOO BIG for a 240ish HW, but Brock could beat him, so Brock (at 285) beats him then Cain beats Brock. Just a hypothesis, it leads to too many variable. A max of 285 seems reasonable but not capping HW may lead to an enormous Weight division which is why superheavyweight may exist.

How about just removing that shitty HW limit

JJ Watts is about the same size and has about the same bench press stats as Lesnar.......I would be itnerested whether he passes USADA and if he does he is basically lesnar without the wrestling

TS likely to get better traction with a new hate class thread, Sherdog level hate, reserved for those "unique" fighters such as PSB, Mario Johns, Bjork, and the Jones family

You know what would make this opinion informed? Evidence.

The sport of MMA is young. We have never seen a guy like Cain take on a 350lb NFL/NBA athlete. We should not be quick to say that the fight is unfair unless we actually see evidence of this.

We certainly know that Cain vs Brock is not unfair.

Id like to see them cap heavyweight at 245 then make super heavyweight 245-275

Wow, that Bunkley guy, from this picture and his friendly looking face, if he was in the UFC, I get a feeling the "run-ins with the law" Jones has would pale in comparison to some of the dust-ups he would have with the authorities.
J.J. Watt-pretty sure we REALLY would need an increase in pay to get that guy to transfer over but point understood.

The issue is that those guys would make more money riding a bench than fighting. They don't have much reason to look into MMA.
