Zombie vs Leonard Garcia 1 on FS1 now

I miss him too it's to bad all he needed was one more win which was against Damon Jackson and he would've have been back into the UFC.

That's one fight where both guys truly did not give one fuck about self-preservation and just swung for the fences. I show that to everybody I know with even a passing interest in mma.

Holy shit, people actually miss Leonard Garcia?

I miss Leonard Garcia.

It's truly mind-boggling that guys like Jardine and Garcia can train at Jackson's for like twenty years yet still not know how to throw a punch without falling over.

Don't miss Leonard enough for him to come back and win via SD.

I saw it (again), awful, just awful.

They are like pawing at each other.

An interesting thing about Leonard Garcia was that he didn't used to be so sloppy. Leonard's always been an aggressive fighter, but from 2008-2009 he was able to combine that aggressiveness with solid-enough striking form (using a lot of straights) which, when combined with his roundhouse-kicking versatility (he's always been able to kick from odd angles, which's a solid weapon to have) and his natural power, made him a threat to everyone in the featherweight division. The way he striked with Hiroyuki Takaya and Jens Pulver is almost the complete opposite of the majority of his WEC career and the entirety of his UFC career that he's most commonly associated with. He fell in love with the winging haymakers (there's actually a moment in the Jens Pulver fight where you can see this de-evolution begin) and, when he did decide to use straight punches in his fights, wasn't able to use his aggressiveness with them well enough to get a solid victory. He was able to use them alright enough to get a controversial loss against Max Holloway, though [irony].

Def. a classic... Can't wait for KZ's return.

It blows my mind how people think that fight was controversial, let alone close. Just proof that a lot of people can't actually see whether punches land or not.

he is an awesome fighter to watch. ever since I saw him fight huerta, I've been a fan of his. having said that, zombie won that fight. and zombie has leonard's spirit in addition to better technique and versatility.
