Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger
If you had any previous experience playing FPS on PC, Halo didn't really do much that was new. But for console gamers it was revolutionary.This. I had a PS2 instead of an Xbox so I never played them until they came out on 360. Very underwhelming. Enemies are lame and non-threatening. It's a good shooter but it doesn't set itself apart from the pack and I don't known why it got so popular.
Keep in mind I'm only talking about the campaign. The multi-player with shields and jetpacks is awesome.
Witcher 3, got to the Griffin and stopped, though I think that, as I had only played half way through Witcher 1 and wanted to do a full play through of 1 and 2 first, starting on the third game in the trilogy just bothered me.
Like alot of rockstar gamesRed Dead Redemption 2
The world is great but everything else about it sucks.
Controls, Mission design, Gameplay, Pacing, etc.
FF6 is my all time favorite game...FF7 is amazing but 6 is in a different league. For me at leastFinal Fantasy 7
Not bad at all but severely overrated compared to the superior FF6 which included one of the greatest villains in video game history.
I know everyone loves it but I never understood why everyone puts it on a pedestal.
Most Halo games.
Because the average gamer from that era went from playing mario kart and sonic to FF7 which was a gigantic jump in terms of everything. In terms of story, characters, content, and graphics is was like the equvalent of going from pong to the super nintendo for alot of gamers.Final Fantasy 7

Problem with this is very few people had played FF6 in 1997. FF7 sold 3x more copies outside of japan in one week then FF6 did in 3 years......Not bad at all but severely overrated compared to the superior FF6 which included one of the greatest villains in video game history.
Most people hadn't played a Final Fantasy game in general. Just because it was their introduction to the franchise doesn't make it better - just more nostalgic.Problem with this is very few people had played FF6 in 1997. "Compared to FF6" holds little weight when very few people had played FF6.
That's pretty much the case with alot of the early 3d games that were highly rated. There not over-rated or not worthy of being a pedestal just because they rely more on impact at the time and breaking through boundariesMost people hadn't played a Final Fantasy game in general.
