In a short while it'll be my 7 year anniversary of being an MMA fan.
I'm very glad I've got to be a fan of this sport(it's the only sport I follow other than the occasional boxing/kickboxing match) and I'm glad to see so many great fights and fighters over the past 7 years. But at the same time it's bitter sweet.

So many of my favorite fighters are in the twilight of their respective careers.
Anderson, Cro Cop, Penn, Wanderlei, Arlovski, Griffin, Sherk, Guida, Stout, Shogun , Hendo, Faber, Leben, Big Nog, and so many others, no longer at the highs of there careers or even now retired.

But the new crop of fighters brings me great joy and hope to continue watching on with the same fiery passion.
So with that in mind what was your first event and what did the champs look like when you first started watching?

    WEC 34: Faber vs Pulver
    HW Couture
    LHW Rampage
    MW Spider Silva
    WW GSP
    LW Penn
    FW Faber
    BW Torres
FLW didn't know of any of these guys then

Edit: A bit too fast. Pride Total Elimination 2003.

Didn't watch UFC actively then, I did catch an occasional Chuck and Tito fight.

    HW: Fedor and CC
    LHW/MW: Shogun and Wand
    WW: Hendo and Andy
    LW: Aoki and Gomi

I kinda have this dream that the forums of sherdog could be here for intelligent discussion and appreciation of MMA. Notice how since I'm not bashing fighters this thread will not get more than 15 posts.

First fight I remember watching was Frank Shamrock dumpin Igor Zinoviev on his head which made me a casual fan...I didn't turn into a hardcore fan until I started watching Wanderlei in Pride.

The first mma fight I ever saw was UFC 1 in VHS (not at the time of UFC 1 ofc, but I don't remember when anymore), my dad came from the video renting store saying 'OMFG saw a video with a guy in judo gi chocking people, people kicking people, teeth flying, it's awesome!"

I watched and wasn't interested for a long time.

Then I watched Crocop vs Minotauro on Google Video (so I am assuming it was in 2005/early 2006), then I never stopped watching until today.

UFC 1 for me.My friends brother had one of those "black boxes" where you got ppv's for free.I was hooked right away.Saku is my favorite of all time but like most in the beginning I liked the regulars like Royce.I have always watched a ton of smaller shows once they started like KOTC's and stuff. These days I watch all the Cage Warriors,One FC's,Bellator's,Legacy's etc.I probably watch about 5 times more non ufc mma than ufc but it is still my favorite.

No, my bad completely, was a bit too fast to write.
Was Pride Total Elimination 2003. CroCop got me in the sport.

It all started when my friend brought this VHS tape of UF... oh wait.

Actually it was UFC 96 for some reason. I was just zipping through the channels one night and it caught my attention.

Matt Browns beatdown of Pete Sell was crazy to watch.

TUF 1 Finale in 2005. I was 14. Swick, Kos, Leben, Sanchz, Franklin, Florian, Shamrock, Bonnar, Griffin all fought that night. Had no idea I'd still be watching them almost 10 years later.

Yeah dude. It really is sad.

By the way I fully admit that UFC 100 was where I became an actual fan and got hooked.
