Pan's Labyrinth is such a gorgeous film.

Easily tops 06 for me, and 06 was a great year.

Man this is a really high level and a close year:
Apocalypto, departed, borat, pans labyrinth, and I even like blood diamond a lot.

Finally though I had to go for Miami Vice. It has that hypnotising and immersive feel that makes you feel part of the movie, great aesthetic and feels so cool.
I'm well aware I often enjoy style over substance but I think it's ok to do so.
Really love it and glad to see I'm not the only one. Great job by Michael Mann.

You know, I didn't really care for Miami Vice when I first saw it. Maybe I was wanting/hoping for something more akin to the TV show. But I've heard enough praise for it in recent years that it makes me feel like maybe I should revisit it.
