So, it's our municipal elections this year, and the ANC have opted to put up a new mayoral candidate for the City of Tshwane municipality - a woman named Thoko Didiza.
Apparently this is unacceptable to ANC supporters in Gauteng province (where the municipality is located) because she is a Zulu woman from KwaZulu Natal.
Of course, being the rational lot that ANC supporters are, they have decided that rather than, you know, vote for a different party in the municipal elections, they'd rather shoot the messenger (literally), riot, attack the police, light a lot of fires, set up barricades made of burning buses, and threaten to make Pretoria (the administrative capital, located in the municipality) "ungovernable".

This is actually a video, but for some reason it starts with a still image, set to music.
The madness continues..
And these aren't even the elections for our president. Watch this space in three years (unless, you know, I'm not around to update you all)

Pretoria - Residents of Atteridgeville, Tshwane, have lashed out at the ANC's decision to put forward Thoko Didiza as mayoral candidate for the city, saying a Zulu person from KwaZulu-Natal cannot be brought in to lead them.
"The ANC cannot bring a Zulu person to rule Pedi, Tsongas, Shangaans and Vendas," a taxi driver told News24 on Tuesday.
"What does she know about Pretoria? Where was she born in Pretoria? She must go back to KZN."

Modihe was shot in the leg and upper body and rushed to Steve Biko Academic Hospital where he died.
It is believed that four men in a VW Polo without licence plates arrived and parked outside the venue. Two jumped out of the vehicle, walked to a group of ANC members standing near the gate and opened fire on them.
Another two were stabbed and assaulted and sustained serious injuries.
The gunmen, one of whom was wearing an ANC-branded shirt, were seen running into nearby flats.

Three Tshwane metro police officers had to run for their lives on Monday afternoon after a group of disgruntled African National Congress (ANC) members attacked their marked service vehicle in Pretoria.
“They were busy on their normal patrols, unaware that they were driving towards the protesters. They were confronted by the protesters and stones were thrown at them,” Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson Isaac Mahamba toldAfrican News Agency.
“All the three were injured. They managed to run away from the protesters and call for backup. The protesters fled.”
The TMPD vehicle the officers were travelling in was overturned on the busy intersection of Francis Baard and Beckett Streets in Arcadia, east of Pretoria.
