I was thinking of this while reading through one of the other post. Seems as though everyone is always putting jujitsu on this high caliber and me now looking at alot of guy's wrestling credentials. It seems alittle silly but I'm just thinking if their was a black system how would it be taken in the fight world??

Say starting out maybe in High School ending in College or ending on Olympic levels following with the years of knowledge and competition earn degrees?

High School - White, Yellow, Blue

College or Olympic Level- Red, Purple, Brown, Black

It sounds alittle silly to me but I'm just thinking

If it did I don't think it should be sorted by High School belts and College belts...
But it probably is not nessesary at all.

belt rankings is used for traditional japanese martial arts, starting with judo and then to karate and jiu jitsu. i don't think it belongs with wrestling.

I dont think wrestling needs a belt system or any system. It's fine the way it is.

No wrestling is about structured competition. I'd rather win states in high school than have some yahoo give me a colored piece of fabric because he thinks i'm good

They should have a color system but instead of belts, make it singlets. I'm a blue singlet btw!

The problem is that most ppl associate belts with mc dojos, with the excaption of a few style like BJJ, Judo and a couple others.

So any school/gym that say gives out belts for Kick boxing, MT or in your case wrestling are automatically discredited as being sub par training facilities.

For those that automaticaly assume this here is a fun fact for you
Did you know that Chute box gave out belts for their MT students???

that is correct it did and as far as i know still does.

Chute box is far from Mc Dojo.

Just look at some of the fight its always the BJJ guy that gets the edge over alot of fighters that dont have enough practice or skills in it, but the fact is the the wrestler has the better chance of winning the fight, and how many time we seen a bjj guy just waiting for him to make mistake or just lay on him, i.e. Shinya Aoki

What's so great about having abelt? Wrestling already has divisions and weight classe. If your'e good your'e good, if you aint you aint. I think a winning recird against tough competition means more than a colored belt (wich incidently won't help to keep you singlet up).

Yeah but wrestlers have certain titles that are like the same aspects of a belt system. For example, NCAA Div 1 National Champion, High School State Champion, Greco Roman Regional Champion. These accomplishments are the same concept as Black Belt BJJ, or whatever. The advantage to not having belts, is John Wrassles cann't hand them out at will at your local strip mall.

Back in the day we had the World, Tag Team, Intercontinental etc.

Seems like a good enough belt system.

This is definatly the dumbest thread I have read this week.

You clearly have never stepped onto the mat in your life.
