Was that the smoothest line any man has ever delivered to a girl?

Faber: You're gonna turn your elbow up at the end.

Calderwood: <Laughs>

Faber: What's so funny? Is it like some ballerina move or something?

Calderwood: Yeah. Like Blades of Glory.

Faber: Heh... Blades of Glory! You sound like... Braveheart!

Yeah Faber really bombed out on that one.

Faber was obsessed with her voice.

Who isn't?
I don't know anything about women. But I do know that most attractive women get a lot of compliments, especially if they're around men all the time. And they typically get the same compliments over and over and over. With this in mind, I would avoid two things when talking to Calderwood, who has a cute voice and is Scottish.

1) Complimenting her on her cute voice.
2) Saying "You sound like Braveheart".

Exactly!!!!!!
I could listen to her all day. It's cute,. but not little- kid cute, but kinda is lol..I dunno how to explain what exactly it is, but ya it's nice to hear haha

Conversely, I spend 90% of my time surrounded by women, professionally and personally, and I'd say you're wrong about that.

It's not in the what you're complimenting, but how you do it. If you give them a typical line, or just deliver it poorly, then yeah, you'll probably get an (internal) eye roll for your efforts. But if your wordplay is skilled, or they can tell you're being sincere, they'll take your compliment with a (genuine) smile.

Me, pretty much everyone I speak to on a daily basis sounds like that.

You don't count lol.

I made a joke and I get a free lesson on chatting up women from someone who spends 90% of their time surrounded by women, professionally and personally.

This day is looking up already.

.... just jokes?

Make fun of Faber's cheesy lines all you want, but multiple members of Team Pettis soaked their panties at the thought of hooking up with him. The guy has more game than 99.9% of the dudes on Sherdog critiquing his dialogue.

Uriah is all about attractive WMMA fighters. I believe Page Van Zant and Veronica Rothlen-something train there. Perhaps he wants Jo Jo to replace Bang as their striking coach.

The op has just described the way i felt at that moment hahaha.

And he even has his own white knights on Sherdog, apparently.

It was just a funny thing, which is probably why it was included on the show. It wasn't cheesy at all, it was just impulsive and awkward and something everyone can relate to. It sounded like something a Will Ferrell character might say.
