TLDR: Fuck You
*No spoilers please, still on season 3*
Ya know what? Fuck it all!
I started the show You earlier this month and I fell in love with it. As a big fan of Dexter, I enjoy the "bad protagonist" story and the internal monologue we get to hear. The show is very suspenseful, it helps that I didn't really like any of the characters that got killed off
but I digress...
The point is that I love(d) the show, now I feel like I've been betrayed, because I watched an episode that served no other purpose than tacky, clunky, on-the-nose, propaganda.
**Here be Spoilers**
For those of you who do not watch the show but may have seen Dexter. Imagine they dedicate an episode where Dexter gets in his car and his internal monologue says some shit like:
"Tonight's the night. This unvaccinated guy has caused enough death by spreading COVID-19. Now's the time I take this serial killer out for good! You didn't wanna take the shot, but now you'll be getting a shot of M99..."
Alright, that would be kinda funny.. but in all seriousness I'd feel like my intelligence was insulted and it'd take me out of the show's universe because all you can think about are some execs talking about how they can spread some clumsy public health message.
I already stopped watching SNL because of the propaganda bullshit (but tbf, SNL has been leftist propaganda for a while now and not very funny) and most of the Netflix comedy specials have some shit about "So, about those dumb antivaxxers, right guys?" followed by the entire audience orgasming simultaneously.
This came out during the time period when every news outlet, social media site, and damn near every TV show was sucking Pfizer's Pdick! I'm watching TV to watch an entertaining story, not try to get brainwashed into doing something. Come on, vaccinated people... the reasonable ones... even you gotta understand this right? A show should be a show, not a commercial for a billion-dollar Pharmaceutical company, right??
What's next? I'm calling it now: Season 4 - Joe falls in love with a Ukrainian girl and kills a bunch of Russians to protect her?

Just watched, S3 E3. In this episode Joe's son gets sick with the measles and while all of this other crap is taking place, there is a subplot in which Joe and Love are worried about Henry's health. Early on they already started with fuckin' shameless lines like: Measles still exist because, can you believe people still don't vaccinate their kids in the age of COVID??
Then while the story tries to balance the plot of Love killing the hot neighbor, they are also forcing this political message of "see what happens when you don't get vaccinated?" It was so forced and cringey!
Joe goes through an existential crisis as he starts to blame himself for lying about his vaccination status as a kid and feels that he is responsible for his child's illness. I'm already turned off. Then the show ends with a guy who they encountered admitting his kids are unvaccinated and got Henry sick and Love kills him as the episode ends. I guess the audience is supposed to be all: Woo hoo! Yaaaas, you go girl! The show is sprinkled with buzzwords like "antivaxxers" and even shows an article with the term "antivaxxer" and "anti-logic".
Now season 3 came out during the height of the aggressive vaccine push so this episode was another PSA. It feels cheap and takes you out of the storyline.
