Name one other high level MMA gym which produces a similar number of injuries.
just about any gym. injuries happen all the time, in every single gym.
the statistics that were dug up for the UFC a while ago that show AKA having this horrible record have a laughable sample size. it's fucking ridiculous. their top 4 guys seem to be injury prone, which can easily be attributed to some really tough luck. once an athlete seriously injures themselves at any point in their career, future injuries are more likely. that's just the nature of the game.
now i know for a fact that there are other camps that are absolutely reckless with their sparring, a lot more so than AKA, and they appear fine in the statistics. why? because this whole "AKA doesn't know hot to train" shit was started on an internet forum by a bunch of fucking couch potatoes, fueled by their frustration that fights were being called off. so instead of going "well this sucks for everyone involved", a whole online board rises up as one and criticizes the training regiment of one of the most accomplished gyms in the sport.
they know what they're doing.
it is not coincidence with AKA. im not a professional, but ive been in the gym enough and followed the sport enough to know its not normal. injuries happen but they are just destroying bodies.
if you think AKA does anything fundamentally different than other gyms, you should probably visit a few. even in regular classes with people who only train for a hobby, injuries happen. you know this to be true. just look at yourself and your training partners. sometimes, you go for months without anything happening. sometimes, shit just piles up and comes crashing down on you. or on everyone.
now imagine training twice a day for nothing but big fights and having some bad luck with your knees. it's easy to see how shit can spiral out of control without doing anything outrageous.
