if you're not in a hurry, put it all in a stock fund
without a manager fee and leave it there for a year or two.

10k is a lot of money to come into unexpectedly (eg winning an early bird prize at a lottery) and to have fun with or help pay down some bills like a car payment, but it's not a lot of money as a foundation to make more, at least on the immediate.
