Are you thinking of DPT, dipropyltryptamine? Because that doesn't occur naturally and has to be synthesized, the ingredients necessary being tightly controlled. It used to be more common, but now the only way to get it is from one church/cult that has an exemption to produce and use it for "religious reasons."

DMT occurs in damn near everything alive, and in quantities sufficient for extraction and purification in many, many plants, most acacia trees, reeds, some grasses, mimosa hostilis trees, psychotropia viridis, and many more.

As the guy you quoted said, a simple A/B extraction can yield highly pure DMT that is indistinguishable from synthesized. I've smoked both many times, it's the same experience. A strong ayahuasca brew is the same experience as well, just lasting several hours rather than a few minutes.

The last thing I could manage was a pharmacological argument.
But it's called "the businessman's acid", right?
A true hallucinogen, lasts like forty minutes, far more intense than LSD?

The businessman's acid would indeed be DMT. That's what they called it back in the 60's. At that time it was primarily synthesized. After the 70's when they found it in a bunch a plants they switched to extracting it because it's easier and cheaper to do, plus you know DEA making precursors illegal and whatnot.

DMT and DPT are both way more intense than LSD, well at normal dosages anyway. IME the peak effects of DMT last 10 to 15 minutes and back to baseline after 30 or so. DPT lasts longer, a couple hours.

That's a Buddhist point of view. Buddhists think that the universe is an ocean and every person in corporeal form is a drop of water that temporarily believes that they are separate from the rest of the ocean. Then they die, return to the ocean and realize they were connected to everything all along. I'm not a fan of this hypothesis because it means you lose your individuality, your achievements and your progress means nothing. It's actually quite pessimistic. You just get mixed with the rest of the water, there isn't even a you any more, reincarnate over and over again for no reason with no end in sight.

If everything contains DMT, is it possible to make oral DMT found in foods bioavailable by taking MAO inhibitors? I understand these are anti-depressants sold behind the counter in pharmacies and require prescription and they are not without negative side-effects. Google lists some natural MAOI sources as nutmeg, kava, turmeric and passionflower. Given high concentrations (f.ex. turmeric supplements), would every day DMT found in foods become bioavailable? What would be the expected effect?

There isn't anything with a high enough DMT content to have that effect. The plants would have to be brewed into an ayahuasca like substance.

There are quite a few natural MAOI's that can work to activate oral DMT. Caapi vine, Syrian rue seeds, and passionflower are all commonly used.

PLEASE don't go fucking around with MAOIs, you can cause yourself quite a bit of mischief if you're not careful.

And, no it wouldn't work but you can easily find botanical sources and grow them in your garden (for purely ornamental purposes I'm sure).

I have a theory on this

    1. Time loses its meaning while you experience dreams
    2. The body will always strive to survive and as such you cannot kill yourself unless you use outside means. For example, you can't choke yourself to death with you bare hands, you can neither hold you breath forever in hopes of asphyxiating yourself. Self-defense mechanisms will take over. It seems the body disposes of enormous amounts of these mechanisms like pain, or the image that our body is limited to one head, torso, two arms and two legs. If you weren't aware of your own limitations and say, for example, you head towards a cliff, you must know your limitations and the cliff's in order to stay alive. It wouldn't be unthinkable that the body elaborated a self-defense mechanism against death itself.
    3. People who have experienced clinical death and who for some reason resuscitated soon after seem to share the same experience as DMT users (leaving the body, going through a tunnel, etc.) and this coincides with a research that claims that the brain is flooded with DMT in your last instant before clinical death occurs.
    4. This could be a self-defense mechanism against death. Anticipating clinical death, the brain will create a surge of DMT which ejects you into a reality where time dilates or has no meaning (like dreams - pineal gland secreting DMT is active meanwhile you dream). This measure ensures that you exist beyond clinical death.
Picture yourself on your death bed surrounded by your loved ones, in your last 2 seconds you will be sent flying in a timeless dream-like reality where 2 seconds may be stretched to what may seem like 2 days, months, years, centuries, perhaps even infinity, who really knows. At the same time, for your loved ones these 2 seconds will be just 2 seconds.
