Who wins this matchup of explosive athletes?
Romero beats him everywhere.
I don't see Romero having much trouble moving in and out with straights and making OSP miss. OSP throws a lot of loopy shots, Romero's head movement is pretty solid, I see him slipping that shit and countering very well. Romero is good at slipping and rolling with shots and countering. He's great at covering distance with the straight left and his timing is great with it. He has tons of power but fights very smart and doesn't throw everything into his shots like some fighters do. He picks his shots very intelligently and realizes that you don't have to throw everything into your punches/strikes in general in order to get the knockout.
He would beat OSP on the feet. OSP's best shot, really, is the counter left hook and a nasty uppercut, in my opinion. Romero's movement, the way he moves in and out, effectively cut his opponent off and great at working angles would be too much for OSP. Romero is better at what OSP is best at, the striking. Romero is simply just better than OSP is at everything.
He also has very good TD's and is a monster from top position if he chooses to attack from there.
Romero is the more skilled fighter. He has more tools and he's a lot better on the feet, IMO. OSP is no joke there, he's got serious power and he can be pretty unorthodox at times, but I think Romero would outclass him on the feet. Romero's striking has improved so much since his fight with Derek Brunson. He's become one of the best strikers at MW, in my opinion.
Not only is he great in terms of athleticism, he's also a very intelligent fighter. I see Romero outclassing OSP everywhere the fight takes place and would bet he gets the KO/TKO in the 3rd round.
Romero via wrestling if he can get him down. OSP if it stays standing.
As good as Romero looked against Machida, people forget that Kennedy basically beat him if not for a bad ref call. Romero deserves credit for actually finishing the fight, but he got a huge break to do so.
romero takedown tko 2nd round. He does not need to go super saiyan in the 3rd.
that would be the weirdest looking striking fight ever
romero by crucifixion reminding us all no forget jesus
romero is pretty much a condensed osp 3.0
Different weightclas buy Romero takes it. OSP TDD is meh.
if the ref was going to call the fight he would have been hasty long before he actually did and the fight would have resumed to the same conclusion
lets keep it 100
Yoel is the worst match up for anybody in the ufc. Him and Barboza are probably the most explosive guys in the UFC, and his wrestling is crazy. r3 stoppage. only thing thats a flaw for Romero is his suspect chin.
Yoel via hesus
Yoel. Helluva fight tho...I'd watch it. Although I'd rather see Yoel get moved into contender status soon.
lol one loss by KO but he has a 'suspect chin'. That has to be the most meaningless way to describe a fighter. If anything his only flaw is his suspect cardio.
Romero beat down
where does osp even train?
Definitely Yoel, Glover took Ovince down so Yoel certainly can.
Especially considering his credentials.
I'm detecting high levels of athleticism here.
I thought Yoel would be champ after watching him for the 1st time when he got KO'ed by Feijao and I'm not even kidding. I can't even remember the fight anymore but there was just something special about him. He's 38 now so time is running out and unfortunately I'm thinking it may not happen. He has just as good a shot as Rockhold or Jacare though. I think eventually Mousasi will be champ too but that's down the road.
