Yoel Romero does epic celebration after brutal KO win

Romero may have the worst Fight IQ and instincts of any top tier fighter. Watching him fight was maddening at times - there were so many times where it was obvious all he had to do was let his hands (or knees) go, but he would stand their passively, or even walk backwards into the cage. Costa was gassed in the third round of their fight and Romero was getting the upper hand... what did he do? Drop his hands, walk backwards into the cage, and then beckon Costa to come forward.

What's kind of crazy is that when you see he has 6 losses on his record, you would think that he began to slow as he aged. You could make a pretty compelling argument that he won many of those close fights (Whittaker 2, Costa, Adesanya, Davis). The only fights he lost clearly was the first fight with Rob, and the time he got knocked out prior to joining the UFC (in a fight he was dominating).

The fight Gods gave him all of the tools to be a GOAT, but he squandered it by fighting in a way that didn't make much sense.

He was always scared of losing his stamina in a flash. When you're that muscular at that age you can empty your gas tank very quickly. He was simply worried the entire time in those fights, which were usually 5 round fights.

You nailed it. I love SOG but he was so frustrating to watch sometimes. I think some of the weirdness and passivity was him saving cardio. All that muscle and explosiveness has a price. Yoel has gone the distance many times without gassing but he would often take minutes off where he would just look menacing and do nothing. He could get away with it because you had to respect his power - kinda like Woodley. Still, it doesn't excuse why he didn't go all in at the end of some of his fights, especially the Izzy fight.

He’s still one of the scariest fighters alive ….. how he can be over 40 and still as juicy looking as ever - can’t believe this guy passes tests .

absolute monster

wish he let his hands go more - the guys a nightmare for anyone
Go to an NPC Nationals and take a gander at the 65+ categories

If this was in a dark alley with no cameras around Yoel would have straight up ate the dude. Im glad he didnt though,so Mini Tyson can go home to his mini tyson family and be un-eaten.

Nearly flying kneed Teh Chris' head clean off. Guys face was sagging for a long time after that.
One of the most terrifying KO's while watching live. Like a car crash. It was tragic as fuck,Cos The Chris was probably gonna win by dec if that didnt happen
