“I’ll be completely honest with you, I was not excited about Germany,” Jouban sad. “I turned it down. Because this is the thing: I was looking for a fight, and I didn’t know who I wanted to fight, but I needed a timeline that I was gonna be healed. So I was asking for July 6th or 7th in Vegas."

“[Then] they threw me Germany, July 22nd,” Jouban said. “So I went back to them and I was pissed, and I was like, ‘Hell no. Why am I going to Germany?’ You know, why am I flying 18 hours and spending all this money on flights and hotels when I could fight right at home? So I turned it down, man. I turned down the fight. And this is in the same timeline that the stuff was going on with Yair Rodriguez, where he turned down a fight and they cut him."

“I went back and accepted it because I figured, you know Dana White put out a tweet the other day I think, saying, ‘If we offer you a fight, it’s best for you to take it.’ “I took the fight, wasn’t very pleased about it, that they were making me travel across the world when I could be fighting in my backyard multiple opportunities,” he continued. “I moved on though, man. You can’t dwell on shit that’s out of your control, right? So I did that, accepted it.”

Dana finally taking control of these independent contractors. Letting them know who the big boss man is. Except for Diaz bros and Conor. They got Dana by the balls.

Also, they gotta pay for their own flights and hotels? lol?

you have to pay for your own flights!? did not know that.

Sucks if they all have to pay for their own flights and hotels.

Then i'd rather just fight in US all the time if i was american.

Also, they gotta pay for their own flights and hotels? lol?

I’ve heard Curtis Blaydes (6’4” 265lbs) say that he had to sit 18 hours to Europe with his feet crammed in the middle aisle.

UFC don’t care lol.

Believe it or not, being in an international fighting organisation means you fight internationally.

it's working! fighters are going to be less picky about fights from now on. great for the fans but not the fighters.

Alan honest as always. Rare thing in MMA in 2018. Jouban Bless

I believe the UFC only pays for flights, food, and hotel for fighter + 1 corner. Except for main events and title fights it is +2.

A typical corner has 3 people in it. I'd like to see them at least increase to fighter + 2, and fighter + 3 for main events.

So after he pays for his flight, hotel, and training he should make around 50 bucks when all is said and done..

not sure what bullshit he's talking im pretty sure the UFC pay for flight and hotel fees

It's kinda disgusting that fighters have to pay for their flights or rather only get paid for few people. This is bush league level.

Let's see - they risk their health, fly across the world and get shitty pay and if they turn down a fight, they get vilified. If they turn down a fight because their opponent fails to make weight, they're vilified too. Sounds like a great job.

But hey - at least they get 50% off shitty Reebok gear or whatever it was they get.

Just let the guys get real sponsors again to make some bank at least.

It’ll be interesting to see how Dana deals with DJ now that he has his balls back.

What the fucking fuckittie fuck fuck!!!!!?

Is this real life!!!?

I know local boxers who get taken care of by managers/promoters in regards to travel.

UFC is turning in to a fucking Wal-Mart. The 1 percent top guys get all the perks while the buttom guys eat shit!

Welcome to corporate style combat sports!
