Yair vs Volk

I'm very interested in this fight. I'd pick Volk because he can catch the kicks of Yair and convert into a TD. However, Yair has, a good guard, athleticism and explosiveness. This might be the most exciting, close FW matchup yet.

Thoughts?

Volk is one of the best, most composed fighters I've ever seen.
Nothing seems to phase him, especially in the first Holloway fight it was incredible to watch as IMO this was the fight that took his skills to the next level.

Yair is best defined by his fight against Zombie. Flashy moves but ones that get countered by more significant combos.
Then, out of the blue, he pulls out the win.

IMO Yair didn't evolve at all after Edgar fight. He just had fights that were complementing his style.

I have a feeling that Volk makes him looks amateur.

I think Volk is gonna win but it's gonna be tough. Yair is so awkward and can catch people. Yair is also out for 6 months. Volk is gonna be almost 35 by the time they fight. Volk doesn't have much time left unfortunately. His prime is about to end

If he takes years off his career, Volk can retire immediately <45>
Volk is around 35 the time they fight. Kinda past prime at 145, definately past prime with added years.

I think Volk has too many tools and too high of a fight IQ to lose to Yair.

that being said. Standing I give the edge to Yair. His kicks and range are a problem and I can see him beating up Volks body arms and legs with kicks and doing damage.

wouldn’t be surprised if Volk thinks he can stand with him losing the first round, then looking to grapple and getting a finish in the championship rounds.

Yair seems like he'd hard to strategise for, he's so erratic, and I don't know how Volk goes if he can't have a good game plan to stick to.

Dude does tend to get sucked into brawls though, but is chinny (watch the Mendez fight)

Arnold Allen is trouble for Yair and Volk, if he can find a second gear vs the volume of Max and prove his gas tank...Hes a real problem for Volk.

I'm excited about it and it sucks that we'll have to wait a while for the fight to happen. Volk should be a pretty decent favorite but he'd be a favorite over any challenger at FW and Yair might be able to land a kill shot. Volk is a very very tough opponent against people who don't have that 1 killshot ability like Max or Islam.
