Does anyone here train at Xtreme Couture? I'm going out to Vegas for the UFC, and I was thinking about stopping by and checking out the Jiu-jitsu class out there (probably Thurs. morning the 3rd). Who generally teaches the classes? Does Robert Drysdale typically teach most of the classes? Also, from what I understand, most of the classes are no-gi, correct? I noticed on the schedule that they have a jiu-jitsu class, and a separate grappling class....what is the essential difference in the classes? Any input would be appreciated.
Three weekens ago I was in Vegas for Anniversary party. I had tiem to train. Pay $25 bucks and have access to all classes for the day. Even if your only interested in nogi grappling, take the standup class, even if you have no experience in muay thai or boxing. To sum it up it was a worth while experience.:icon_chee The onyl problem was that the instructor you want, was not available at the time, because so many fights were going- from UFC to local shows that weekend. Dennis Davis was the instructor at the time, as well as Varner. Both are worth learning from/
I'm going to be in Vegas in late August and plan on getting a day pass two of the days I'm there. I would be really interested to hear from people who have done that, or who train there regularly. Any info would be cool.
as far as i know the grappling instructors range from: drysdale, scott bieri, dennis davis, varner, and jay white not 100% sure if thats current tho
Legion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, BJJ Las Vegas, Vegas, MMA, submission grappling, martial arts Instructor is Cameron Diffley. (Forrest's BJJ coach on TUF 7). Black belt under Ricardo Pires.
I was constantly impressed with his coaching throughout the show. I also managed to find some competition video of him as well as instructional cips and he is very good. I own a time share in Vegas and next time I come down I may try to hook up with him for some training.
He got his black recently. EDIT: Isn't it weird that Forrest is part of Xtreme Couture but trains bjj at another gym? Or am I missing something?
Many guys at xtreme couture have a great ground game, if it is strictly gi you want, you may want to try another gym. Legion is good, sergio penha's is the best. take it from me, I train there.
I trained under Sergio for a few years back at the LV Combat Club. He's a great guy, and his technique is amazing. I like training with Cameron though. I feel he's able to explain things a little bit better. If Legion wasn't around, I'd be right back with Sergio. But Sergio's and Legion are both better for BJJ than Couture's though.
true enough about coutures, drysdale is a stud for sure and Mike Pyle is quite good on the ground, more no gi oriented though. Cameron is a good dude and very good, I trained with him a few times when LVCC was still around. Sergio's jujitsu is aon anopther level from most peoples though
