I consider myself a true hardcore fan and initially wanted NO PART of this fake dramatics just to sell a fight...I was more of the guy who loved the true anger vs. the world that people like Mike Perry, Al Iaquinta and Wandy brought to the cage BUT, with that being said, I also have come to the obvious conclusion that a fighter/athlete can be an A+ level athlete and get next to no wide spread level interest which = bad for business.

My change of heart on the matter goes hand in hand with the current World Cup. Football to the rest of the world but soccer for us Americans.....There are so many talented players in this but somehow, I only have heard about Renaldo and Messi. A guy just being an awesome performer just isn't enough in 2018. They need to find a certain angle to garner the interest of the masses.

Bottom line: I think this borderline fake/real hype can be good and welcoming so long as it is done properly....Brock sold his part but DC needs some acting classes.
This IS entertainment but when the cage closes, the fakeness goes out the window as soon as another man's fist hits your jaw.....Then it gets real.

Thoughts?

Any more of that and I'll kill myself.

its all nice and fine....but there has to be some sort of legitimacy to the sport. How is a guy who has been suspended twice welcome back every time to fight for a title because he is famous? It says a lot about ufc and their views on drugs/fair play

It is easier to just watch the fights. Skip/ignore the bullshit.

Marketing is done to get the attention of marginal consumers... that's life.

I think the shit last night was a bridge too far. It was so obviously staged. DC is a huge pro-wrestling fan, and clearly wanted to take part in a WWE like promo.

There was nothing natural about it. It was 100% bullshit, and it just came off really forced and awkward. Brock was practically laughing the whole time. He doesn't hate DC, like he did Mir, and the shove was so obviously set up. They were both just playing around. I don't mind the shit talking between fighters, but it's gotta be more convincing than what we saw last night, to not come off as a complete joke.

never ever forget. the UFC is in the money making business first and foremost. And Brock Lesnar is money.

Last night was still less cringeworthy than Colby's promos. UFC has been going the way of WWE for a long time.

WWE and UFC will do more cross promotional stuff like this as it is the future of MMA in the UFC.

If the hype is good I enjoy it.
If it's not, I ignore it.
