WW title fight comparisons gsp vs robbie

gsps best title fight was against Hendricks and you can make a very strong case he actually lost that fight. BUt the fight itslef was pretty good I cant deny that. The condit fight was great for 2 rounds but after the head kick he went into captain safety and there went that fight.

Robbies 3 title defences were all INSANE. THey all had drama and violence and showed heart and grit. Robbie is everything a fan should root for. What a great champion he has been and I hope he racks up some more wins and goes down as the best ww champ ever. gsp will be remembered for a better career but I think Robbie is the best champ at ww ever these fights are insane. Hughes was very exciting too but there wasnt this kind of violence in any of his fights. Hendricks, rory and condit. talk about a murderers row.

Robbie has a long way to go to be metnioned in the same sentence as gsp I get that but im talking about quality of fights. There has not been any stinkers while Robbie has been champ.

Unfortunately I think Woodley will try to stink up their next fight.
 
Woodley is awesome i know he gets a lot of shit but he is really good and his striking is fast as fuck. He is going to catch robbie and that chin is going to pull him thru.
 
I was expecting a really elaborated list and tons of paragraphs, but you kept it short and went straight to the point you were trying to make without degrading either fighter.

Robbie's title fights are more fun because he's not as good.

GSP's opponents were never in the fight, which wasn't particulalry exciting.

Robbie is barely squeaking out wins, so naturally they're more dramatic and exciting
 
I dont think Woodley will deal well with Lawler´s ferociousness

Nah, Robbie will sprawl and brawl him before going berserker and finishing Woodley against the cage Marquardt style.
 
While I always enjoyed watching GSP compete I enjoy watching Lawler fight even more.
 
Curious TS, how many of GSPs fights did you actually watch? If you had watched his first three title fights, you could have said the same thing you’re saying about Lawler. Point being, it’s a fairly dumb comparison.
 
Maia will become champ soon, people here will complain even more then they did when Gsp was the champ...
 
Robbie is awesome, but he won't go down as the best. Part of the reason his fights are so insane is that he is only slightly better than the competition.

His edge comes in his fearlessness and in his heart, but as far as skill goes, he's about equal with Hendricks.

But I'd actually put him slightly behind Rory and Condit when it comes to pure skill. He beat Rory because he's tougher, hits harder, and has more heart.

He beat Condit because MMA judges.
 
Skill for skill, I'd say Robbie and Woodley are about equal. Once you throw in heart, guts, and rage...Woodley is totally overmatched.

And he arguably lost every title defense.

Lawler is having barnburners because he isn't significantly better than his opponents. GSP was. He completely tooled Condit. Robbie lost to Condit was given the decision when any impartial individual would score that for Condit.
 
Robbie isnt any better than rory, johnny or condit that is ture but thats what makes the fights so compelling. Its his style and fearlessness. Thats what makes him the BEST champ ever, he may not be the greatest but hes the best imo.

Yeah, but isn't that a little one sided? Rory, Condit, and Hendricks put in half of the work in those fights. Does that make them the best challengers?

yes but that also means that robbie has intangilbes which carry him to victory, perhaps intangibles that gsp doesnt possess. Its even more of a triumph when you beat a guy as or MORE talented than yourself based on grit chin and ehart.

Condit fight was a robbery though
 
Robbie is definitely earning his paychecks, but i hope he's friends with a neurologist because his gameplan up until this point hasn't exactly favored his long term health.

It's cool being the toughest dude on the block, who cares if you can't remember your kids name when you retire.
 
I personally enjoyed GSP's fights more, he was amazing to see at work!

Lawler is fun to watch, but because he's bad enough that anyone can be competitive with him.
