Wtf is up with all the climate change denial lately?

Its like this is like the anti vax movement kicked up a notch.
Every news article is being clogged up with comments about how it's all b.s. When you can literally pull up a Wikipedia page and read into the facts for yourself.
Yeah, wikipedia, the highest standard of truth there is. I don't give a shit about ACC, because I don't believe in that particular bogeyman.

If one has truth to sell, lying about it is a really bad way to do it. Send my regards to Mann & Gore.

That sounds right. Most in the nuclear industry are ex-Navy carrier or nuclear guys as they have experience and that is one of the few places. They are also very old now as we really quit building new ones since the early 1980's until just recently when we added Watts Bar 2 and near completion on Vogtle.

His story seems to check out then, I never actually followed him to work. His oldest is 30 years old, placing him in the submarine in the mid 80's.

Yeah..mighty convenient that all the steps to fight it involve basically becoming a socialist society.

I remember the ending notes of Al Gore's with that gay Melissa Ethridge song.

Gotta ride government mass transit now people now
Gotta protect the earth resources now people now
Gotta switch to government peddled energy now people now
Gotta trust your government now people now

I thought that song was good. It didn't specify what she was singing about.

The world will flood and freeze and there aint nothing humans gonna do about it. Embrace the change...

I was talking about the notes that appeared on screen while the song was playing. I don't remember the song lyrics but it sounded like one of those

haven't see n it, not even on my queue.

IMO the destruction of the oceans might be a bigger problem ATM than the climate change and it gets largely ignored.

As Pwent said earlier no one disagrees the climate is changing and has been for a long time the argument is whether humans are the driving force behind it.

I'm open to the theory that Anthropogenic global warming is happening but I am given pause by the way the government and specifically the IPCC has gone about providing it's evidence. The emails released by wikileaks (climategate) which was kept very quiet on the MSM cast doubt on the intentions of scientists and politicians to be truthful about data, making it more extremist and alarming to satisfy their own needs (funding/politics). The collaboration between scientists to make sure their data didn't contradict other data in the report when published means that often only the most alarmist and one sided data was published. Anything that cast doubt or differed from the to-be published narrative was not included. Several scientists and lead authors, not minor players were misquoted and/or claim to have had data contradicting the report left out, or submitted papers for the report with important data that was edited and have asked for their names to be removed. Some of these scientists have admittedly rescinded their complaints.... after being threatened by their places of hire to be fired.

There have been multiple claims in reports which scientists and the IPCC's own lead authors have spoken out against.

Anthropogenic global warming may well be occurring but the IPCC does no favours for itself with it's behaviour.

This doesn't count all the lower level workers who have spoken out against the collaboration they allegedly saw behind the scenes, although when you look at the wikileaks emails It's not a stretch of the imagination to see happening.

Is it to do with trophic cascades? I remember being fascinated when I first learnt of them and finding all these random small animals/insects and trying to trace how they would affect the food chain. I'll watch it, cheers.

Basically, it's seen as a leftist cause, so a significant chunk of the population has to believe it's bullshit no matter what the science says.

Actually IF the theory were true, your conclusion is not. We would have MORE arable farm land as vast parts of Canada, Europe, and Russia would open up for farming with the warming.
With industrial farming one of the main causes of global warming (if not the main cause), that's a very strange thing to look forward to.

Russia being more 'farmable' = permafrost melting. Not a good thing.

Nah, pollutions not a big deal. Thats why we are gonna get rid of those regulations, they kill jobs.
Which regulations are you gonna get rid of?

Well, the upcoming U.S president is on that wagon, so given how his supporters seemingly rally behind every word that man speaks, I don't think it's that suprising.

As evidenced here on Sherdog as well, it does not matter how many times you try to present the science on the subject, the "deniers" will keep on clinging to well... the anti-science.

I have noticed they have gone from trying to argue against global warming with scientific terms, to arguing against global warming with rhetoric; "All opinions should be respected", "The liberal elite is trying to bully you into submission", "The scientists are shills for the liberal agenda, they want your freedoms" etc. It's depressing, but also not really suprising anymore.

I hope that this forces the climate scientists to be much more vocal, and active in the public debate. That's really what we need, that the actual scientist starts adressing the public in a much more approachable way, so that the general public gets more enlightened on the subject, and the pretend ignorance from the paid shills can be scuffed away. That's my dream scenario at least.

The only viable and affordable power source at this time that is zero carbon emissions is nuclear and Liberals reject it, so they can STFU.

The data has been altered to fit the theories.... so Liberals can STFU.

Not one climate model that the Liberals that Liberals have put forward has been correct, so Liberals can STFU.

Liberals cannot tell us what the right Climate is.... so they can STFU.

The only solution LIberals have for Climate issues is more taxes... so they can STFU.

The planet is supposed to be warming on the natural cycles, just like Mars and the other planets are doing... so Liberal can STFU. (note: there are no SUV's on Mars.)

Kyoto if followed 100% would make no difference, so Liberals can..... that's right... STFU.

Because the Republican Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Oil.

Pollution:
as much as we like to criticize the EPA, look at China and SE Asia: people ride their bikes wearing face masks. I seen pictures from Beijing hi-rise condos where you can not even see your own hand sticking out of the window. The waterways are pretty scary too.

US is fairly clean pollution wise but we gotta compete with China and others who don't go by the same rules, so we gotta find some kind of a balance...we can't be the 'good guys' and let them run as over.

About climate change: I don't know... but I do care about pollution

And yet you find liberals extolling the virtues of free trade. Why? Because a number of high ranking establishment democrats owed free trade to their campaign donors. Total hypocritical nonesense.

Living in China, I have to say those free trade deals are probably a good bargain for us. We get cheap stuff back home and almost all the pollution is here in China.

That's simply a failure to quantify the collateral economic damage. These emerging economies aren't subsidizing their exports for no reason. Just like the guy who stuck a hose in your gas tank isn't taking a mouthful of fuel for no reason
