I just watched cowboy vs Ferguson, like I was watching it and it looked like cerrone was not into it. The way he was striking looked sloppy to me every strike he threw his other hand would be down to his waist, and his jabs looked somewhat good but I felt he wasn't pushing forward in the right way that he normally does.

I feel like he was letting ferg work more but it did look like (based on his face) that he was a bit worried about ferguson kicks and shit.

Like that was a disappointment. I knew ferg was going to win it was kind of a brawl at times but cerrone wasn't using the usual techniques and shit he normally does.

WTF HAPPENED TO CERRONE? tony is a beast so it's no doubt that he won but I thought cerrone would at least land a few good head kicks instead of throwing sloppy punches.,

They were both taking damage it’s just Tony has a less damaged face and has been in the game a lot shorter.
It’s very hard to fight with a broken nose, broken orbital, and just taking a lot of damage in general

1) He got kicked in the body like 50 times.
2) Cowboy doesn't kick well when he's being pressured
3) His boxing has always been poor

In short, this is just normal Cowboy, and should not be surprising if you've followed his career.

Tony was just much much better. He is a nightmare opponent

Ik but I've watched him for years and his strikes we're not this sloppy, the only good strikes we're the kicks he's thrown even when tony stopped for a bit, he rushed forward and it did not look like the cowboy ik.

If it were he would've came in with a 1-2-3 and head kick but most of the time he just throw a single head kick without any set ups.

He is a poor boxer but from what I remember last year he was punching better than that

Also cowboy was really telegraphing a lot of his punches too.

Cowboy strikes far better when coming forward and at more traditional distances. Nothing Ferguson does is very traditional not to mention Cowboy's weakness is his absorption of body shots, which Tony landed a LOT before getting the hands to drop enough to then take apart Cerrone's face. They both ate shots, but Ferguson was starting to pull away IMO. Either way, 2 VERY tough dudes and a helluva scrap.

He blew his nose while it was broken. THATS what happened to cowboy

Fergie is that rare GSP level of OCD, 24 hours a day 7 days a week live, eat, breathe, poop, training and MMA.

The kind of insanity you see from Olympic level gold medalists in wrestling.

^ not thee look of a sane mofo imho.

difference is Georges and Ferg is GSP just wanted to win Ferg wants to destroy people. The list of dudes he's finished means the fight between him and Khabib will be must see

I think Tony's jab is kind of deceptive, in that it is far stronger than most mma fighters jabs, and it seems to deter most of his opponents fairly quickly. I haven't seen the fight, but he basically broke pettas with the jab.

His jab is the best jab in the UFC by far. The way he uses it is extradonary. He'll throw double triples and side step and hit the guy all over the place. He'll hit double jab than 2 side step and hit the guy with the elbow.

Eddie Alvarez did the same thing a couple years ago i think. I guess even veteran fighters make that mistake in the heat of the moment.

i also think at his age/length of career, the weight cut to 155 might've drained Cowboy more than usual. but at least we got two rounds out of that fight

Cowboy does okay when he is allowed to do his thing but if you watch most of his fights Vs anyone able to pressure him, he folds.

Pressure and hard body shots are the way to beat Cowboy.....

Hes a lefty. So that hard stiff jab is allmost like the strong lead straight from jeet kune do

cant really blame the dude he always has wars n every fight the human body can only do so much dude isnt rocky

this i wish he would develop stronger hands and elbows dude has the length to keep guys out if u wana kick i feel u need t also use hands to stop them from closing the gap needs to work solely on a jab for a camp but its not his style he likes to sit down on everything flat footed and just throw sadly u cant be a champ doing this but it is admired

Your right he's not Rocky, HES DONALD COWBOY CERRONE!! LOL but seriously I forgot how cerrone lost to jorge masvidal, Rafael dos anjos, and Robbie Lawler. I seen all those fights and sometimes when I don't pay close attention I don't see that masvidall is actually pressuring him with light- hard strikes throughout the fight. And that Rafael dos anjos is just a straight up beast at pressuring motherfuckers.

Some others have commented along these lines.

Cerrone is no spring chicken. It was a tough fight against an opponent who is not a good match up for him. So as he got tired struggling with that, the situation worsened as his energy ebbed.

No big mystery.
