How does everyone see this fight playing out?
can't see palhares getting the sub
Shields probably is one of the most difficult fighters to submit.
Shields by decision (UD).
I don't think this one spends too much time on the ground. Shields via wall n' stall.
Palhares will break something. Shields is too tough for anything less.
toquinho is going to sub shields, shields does not have KO power, I dont see him escaping hh after hh for 5 rounds.
Rafa leg locked Shields when they rolled.
Who knows how Shield's leg submission defense is... This is a great matchup that I fear might underwhelm.
that said, errrr........Palhares, TKO in second round
its hard to bet against paul harris since hes so good at his niche he can potentially beat anyone on any given sunday.
i think shields will pull out the belcher 2: electric boogaloo though.
Shields by GNP.
When grapplers fight it's usually decided by striking. But these two ALWAYS work for the ground fight. I favor Palhares if his cardio is good, because Shields has to be on top and his takedowns haven't aged very well. Palhares is way more explosive so if he doesn't gas then his chances are certainly better.
Shields grinds him out or manages a choke
I think shields will work some sort of takedown. Staying on the feet will pretty much mean that 1) he has to compete against a striker with vastly more power in his hands and feet 2) That Palhares can pull guard in ways that might entangle legs.
Shields odds of not losing a leg are vastly greater smothering from the top of guard or side control.
I am taking Shields, Cesar's guys have had sick leg locks since the 90's, I think Shields can find a way to stay out of leglocks and attack with gnp to a decision.
If he's in shape/mentally on point, Palhares takes this, IMO.
Shields neutralizing Paul's game and throwing some f*ggotpunches from the top. win by decision.
