I guess the claim that Sterling's WSOF offer was bigger than his bellator offer makes sense based on how top loaded this is

Branch making great money, no other org is paying him that.

Ali is his manager.
That's the reason.
I was wondering why it was so high, even though he's champ compared to everyone else that's a lot.

I honestly don't get how people live on these kind of salaries. I mean at the end of the day what is Starks walking away with after taxes, travel, paying for the coaches/camp, like 8000/9000 bucks, maybe less? This is for a title fight let alone the other guys on the card making much less, MMA is really fucked man.

The one thing I'll say about WSOF is at least they seem to be giving everybody fights now. For a while a couple years back they were signing too many guys and not giving them fights. And no, they aren't paying too much to most of the fighters, but I seriously doubt they are making any profit either. Their initial deal with NBC sports was that they were paying for the slot, and even if the deal has improved a lot, they don't sell many tickets, and the ratings usually aren't even close to Bellator or UFC.

I don't understand what are you guys saying
Overall it is a better pay than Bellator and Invicta

Most of them have jobs of some sort.
And to be fair, most of the Sherdog talk of camp and manager fees are grossly over-exaggerated for the majority of fighters.

and people wonder why NFL or NBA caliber athletes aren't training MMA full time

shit you get paid more than that as by the local booster if you are a D1 athlete

The fighters get loads of cash from endorsements, though.

mma is young
only got licensed in NY recently

people still see mma as 'bad'
takes time for people to see it as a sport

UFC has done a good job moving mma forward
but it takes time

Im sure him being a two division champ in the organization has something to do with it.

Very few fighters can live off full time fighting. Most have second jobs or side businesses. Stipe is about to fight for the UFC HW title and he's a full time fireman. Think about that for a second.

Why did Fitch complain about ufc pay? He made 190k in his silva win. 66 here. A lot lower.
