I'll just leave this here and slowly walk away.

dat slam at 0:52. Beautiful double at 1:51

inb4 200 pages

Can anyone tell me anything about this event? That looked like a rough loss.

IMO the video is not labeled correctly. There is no BJJ present. lol

GREAT toss by the wrestler though. I also love the parts where the "BJJ" player just sits down and the wrestler walks away rather than engage. I wish this was an option in BJJ events. It would really help prevent butt scooting IMO.

How did either of them plan on winning the match? The wrestler didn't want to go to the ground even on top (where you'd think he'd be fine) and the other guy couldn't fight for a take down to save his life.

The suplexes were awesome.

I'll just leave this here and walk away... actually style vs style is retarded. Learn everything if you have access to it and it helps you achieve your personal training goals.

Its understandable the wrestler outclassed him on the feet, but that BJJ Practioner could have done a much better job imposing his will to make the wrestler play his game. Good guard pulling which we frown upon would of helped a lot in this case.

This is the clip I was talking about. Good wrestler with some BJJ knowledge would beat BJJ guy anyday in a street fight or MMA.

please guys, this is such a puerile pissing contest.

...

The goose obviously cross trains.

Geese will fuck you up man, those bastards will break your leg in half.

These comparisons...they aren't even really bjj v wrestling, bjj v judo, etc. since they are happening under submission grappling rules. Without an ippon or pin, or scoring it is just a judoka or a guy that wrestled competing in a submission grappling match.

Should have kicked him in the face

I'm of the mindset that guard pulling actually has its place. Most of the time, it's not good. I think butt-scooting has largely replaced it, but for the longest time, guard pulling was the go-to move for those players too lazy/afraid to learn and drill proper takedowns.

That being said, I agree with you in this case. When you have someone who completely outclasses you on the feet (whether it's from size, skill, or some combination), guard pulling is the way to go. It gets the fight to the ground in a controlled manner and allows the player to begin working their game in a way that doesn't risk as much as, say, a failed turning throw might. Would like to have seen this guy try the guard pull.
