How old is too old to compete in collegiate wrestling? I am 26 and am wanting to join the wrestling team where I go to school. Who is the oldest collegiate wrestler? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Uh, have you wrestled before? College wrestling (at least, in the states) is a serious varsity sport, and the athletes are accomplished and experienced amateur (high school and junior freestyle/greco) wrestlers. If you don't fit that description, then age will not be what keeps you from being on the school's wrestling team. There are wrestling clubs at many colleges, which are open to anyone of any experienced for a small fee, where you can learn/continue the sport and enter some open competitions. If that's what you're interested in, then I assure you, 26 is not too old at all. There will be people in there 40s who are very tough competitors at any decent wrestling club.

Just give it a shot man. They have trials just like any other sport. I think Randy Couture just proved that age really is nothing but a number. 26 is not too old for anything. Has your body been beat up in any other sports? If not then you are fresh meat. That is usually what determines the age of the competitors, that being the number of injuries and miles put on your body. If it does not work, like Ruckus mentioned, try a wrestling club. Good luck.
