Hey all, I just watched the Eddie bravo demonstration of twister side control to a twister.

Isn't that the same thing as a guillotene in wrestling? I did that in H.S. Just curious what the difference is if any?

Other than how you get into it of course.

THe difference is you don't pin you submit, yes its the same position. I hit the "wrestler's guillotine" the first time I took someones back in BJJ and someone asked me about Eddie Bravo and I didn't have a clue who he was.

I hit the twister for the first time yesterday. I wasn't going for it but I ended up int he position so I took it. Felt great haha. The guy was in side control on me with his left hip on the mat (he was on my left side so his body was facing my head) so I tied up his top leg with my legs thinking I was going to go to half guard but he rolled over so his back was on my chest and I'm like, hey, isn't there a submission from here? Haha.

that's similar to the first time I hit it. the guy just kinda put himself in it, and I fell in love with the position after that

Can someone show me an example where the Twister was used to win an MMA fight?

There was a mma fight between two chicks and one landed the twister. I wish I could remember who they were.

    Shayna Blazer hit it.

Jason Chambers has hit it at least twice in MMA. Several 10th Planet MMA fighters use it as common as the RNC.

you nailed it. it is the same thing, aside from the setup. they call it the twister because guillotene was already used for a choke.

Is "the twister" illegal in BJJ competition? It looks like a neck crank to me.
