Wow, that Germany event was crap

Difference is they love wrestling and support it and follow it.

mma fans complain about having to change the channel from FS1 to Fox to watch free fights.

First world problems.

I wonder if there are boxing fans who only enjoy the big fights but watch every Friday Night Fights and Golden Boy Boxing episode and complain that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are not there every week.

The difference is those boxing fans wouldn't even consider paying $15 for C level cards.

The UFC wants to be the major league, the minors and everything in between and charge for it.

I don't have a problem with all the extra cards and I do find all the complaints from fans kinda weird. What I don't understand is how this world expansion will work with weak cards like this. Just look at the Top Rank cards from Macau, at least they are giving it a proper go at developing something there. You get the sense that the UFC doesn't believe in this expansion as much as they pretend to.

Weak card, boring fights.

Ofc, nobody can predict the excitement of a fight by looking at the names. But maybe, just maybe, the only two (somewhat) "high" profile fighters also made for the most exciting fight.

Anyway, I was shocked by how empty that arena looked. They sold what, 7k tickets?? But no surprise, you cannot make a shit card and expect fans to actually travel there and buy tickets. To grow the sport and recruit new fans it might not matter if they have big names. But for the already-fans who watch their events, if you wanna make them come to the event you have to offer a bit more than two borderline top 10 guys as a main event, two guys who would normally just make the main card as a co main and the rest absolute no names (except Barnatt). The idea that the world outside America is so starved for live events that they would travel to any event no matter who is on, has just been proven wrong. Fans who actually follow the UFC won't travel anywhere and then pay for tickets for an event that you would not even watch on TV on a Saturday night.

Lol at moose being borderline top ten

They both sucked, imo.

But that doesn't rustle me at all, because even shitty MMA events are better than not watching MMA, and I didn't pay a cent to watch it.

There are IPPVs of boxing on the net all the time. Same thing with MMA. Boxing fans never complain about it, they just don't watch it or complain about it.

Is Zou Shimming vs. Yokthong Kokietgym really worse of a boxing fight than anything the UFC has tried?

They ran consistent shows there and it's a little dishonest to pretend that Zou was the best thing offered just because he was in the main event due to local popularity. Not to mention the Pac fight. Top Rank is also getting support from the local casino something the UFC doesn't have the benefit of.

I'm complaining about lackluster cards but in reality the UFC probably know better then to blow their load like they did with the first try into the British market. They had good cards there and in the end they lost money.

The worst thing is UFC is diluting their brand name with this Fight Pass event bullshit. They've effectively merged minor league and major league into one, and will pay in the long term.

boring fights.. really? maybe you best watch fights with big names, like Arlovski-Schaub:icon_cry2 Berlin card had few recognisable names but the fights were great imo..
