Wouldn't it make sense for someone coming off a win fight for the WW title?

Why does Johny Hendricks get a shot when he's coming off a loss to GSP? It really shouldn't matter if it was controversial because of the scoring or not... Gus didn't get an immediate rematch.

Is this another case of UFC politics or is this the right call?
 
Because guys coming off of losses fighting for the welterweight title is just tradition. BJ, Diaz, now Hendricks.
 
I agree. Should do Lawler vs Condit for the title. Hendricks just had his chance and screwed up.

Inb4 Hendricks nuthuggers claim he won the last fight anyway.
 
Because he lost to the champ.

So technically he is 2nd best in the division.

People really need to stop equating the Jones/Gus fight with GSP/Hendricks. Jones/Gus was a close fight that Jones rightfully won whereas Hendricks was robbed of an obvious win.
 
1. I gave the fight to Hendricks, but I see how a judge could (incorrectly IMO) score it for GSP.

2. Regardless of your opinion of how round 1 was scored, fact is Hendricks bloodied up GSP like no one since Serra

Hendricks won, Robbie won, I feel great that Robbie is getting a chance as a young veteran.

And I'm glad that Hendricks gets a chance to pick up the belt.

Excitement guaranteed.

Unlike GSP nuthuggers, Hendricks nuthugger aren`t the only ones saying Hendricks won the fight.

GSP Fans think that GSP won the fight (majority)
Rest of the fans thought that Hendricks won the fight.
 
Hendricks fucking smashed GSP and then GSP retired. Now, If just Ruthless can knock Big Rig TFO, this will be the fairy tail ending of the WW devision.

i'm far from a gsp nuthugger or even a GSP fan tbh..and in all honesty, I personally thought Johnny deserved the W, he had GSP hurt bad and was closest to finishing but, I can definitely see how some people (judges) gave it to GSP.

It's clear, rounds 2 and 4 were Hendricks. 3 and 5 were GSP. it's just about how you view round 1. Quantity over quality for some.

Overall though, if they don't get rid of the 10 pt must system, they should implement or get educate judges more and make damage to an opponent/finishing or nearest to finishing fights have more weight on the decision
 
I don't know if there is a mistake, but in the UFC ranking, instead of having 1 for Hendricks, it is now 0, as if he were the uncrowned champ and would not have a normal ranking. I really hope it's a technical mistake. http://www.ufc.ca/rankings

People really need to stop equating Hendrick's performance to a win...he was out struck and out grappled by GSP.

And yet GSP was the only guy hurt in the fight and the guy who was a rambling incoherent mess during his 'victory' speech, and was clearly the one who suffered more damage. I can see a case for either guy winning it, but GSP supporters that act as though Johny had no right to feel he deserved a win are blind, wankers, trolls or some combination of the three. Relying on stats (which also are subject to change) is utterly foolish.



In any case, having a loss such as Hendricks had vs the champ (who until now has dominated everyone he defended against since reclaiming his belt) suggests he is the clear #2 in the division. Not allowing him to fight for the belt because he just lost would be idiotic.
