Would you still eat meat if animals could talk?

Saw this topic brought up the other day on a Toronto morning show, thought it was interesting.

A "futurologist" (whatever the hell that is) states that an implant could be developed by 2050 that gives animals the ability to speak to us.

So from this, they speculate whether or not animals having a voice humanizes them and will it make you think twice about gobbling down their delicious carcass?

For myself, I'm too far gone to change. Like Vincent Vega said, "but bacon tastes good, pork chops taste good"

    What say you Sherdoggy?

You'd have to still eat some of them to keep the others from getting too cocky.

Generally speaking, the rule is you don't eat smart animals. I guess in some places you do but in my part of the world you don't eat dolphins, elephants, horses, dogs, etc. because they are more intelligent. We eat the dumb ones like chickens and cows. So I guess it would actually be harder to eat an animal that can communicate.

Yes. You don't see Lions stop eating other animals and they can communicate just not in a way you can understand.

Contrary to what a vegan would say, eating meat is vital to human diet so yeah np. If anything it will make people more appreciative of the sacrifice of the animal for our survival. The old hunters way always gives the highest of reverence and appreciation to the prey. Supermarkets take that away.

Hell ya. I'd knock a horse out and just start eating it right then and there, uncooked. But seriously I won't eat Octopus because Ive seen how smart those bastards are. If you throw a jar with a screw on lid into their tank with food in it, they will open it just to get to the food.

That pig or chicken could recite Shakespeare or the Gettysburg Address, and I would just be nodding my head whilst getting out my knife and fork

It's not like a lion is smart enough to consider morality, or has other viable food sources.

On topic I don't know if I could do it.

It probably would change what animals are seen as appropriate food.

Chickens seem pretty mindless, if they could talk it would be all "EAT BUG, MUST SCRATCH DIRT, OH A SHADOW MUST RUN AWAY"

Pigs are highly intelligent, I think people would be more hesitant to eat them. In the west dolphins and whales are seen as these sacred kindred spirits we should never eat even if they aren't endangered ecologically, but pigs are right up there with an advanced brain.

Well, by then we will be growing meat on a stick.

If animals could talk right now, I would imagine it would change the global sex trade in a profound way. Tawk-fuc-eat would be the new fast food chain

It depends on if I could understand them. Animals speaking Dutch or welsh would definitely get eaten.
