Would you rather learn BJJ from a purple belt 20 minutes away a couple times a week or a black belt 50 minutes away once a week? Just wondering what others think...
Hmm.. Purple Belt. A black belt would be superior to a purple without question but you wouldn't need to know the advanced levels a black belt knows (I'm assuming your a white belt). The purple will cover basics aswell as advanced techniques & being with him twice a week will be more beneficial. IMO frequency will benefit you so much more. Doing something twice a week as oppose to once is always going to better.
If you can't go to both, I would do Purple several times a week. When you are just learning, it is important to practice as often as possible, I think.
Thanks for the replies. That's pretty much what I thought. I train with a black belt now and he's the best martial arts instructor that I have ever met. He's also the best BJJ player I've ever rolled with. It's a shame that I can't train with him more but I think it will be for the best.
