I personally would have sympathized with him if he just came clean and maybe even a tad hero status by setting an example to other PED users.

He could have easily just said “Yes I knowingly took these banned substances, but it wasn’t to cheat my opponent. I took this substance to heal/recover from a career ending injury and be able to see the inside of the cage again. I’m 40 years old and it was just the only option I have and I’m deeply sorry to the commission, ufc, and my fans.”

He only tested for trace metabolites, so that explanation/apology would have been plausible after a horrific injury and I would have given him a pass for being honest and manning up then.

Oh well legacy ruined anyway. Can’t use dickpills twice now.

You can't really "come clean" because no one knows what type of PED's you've really been using and for how long. If you say you used it after you started losing, people will insist that you're still lying and you always used them. And they may be right. That's part of the awfulness of being caught cheating.

Yes i would respect him more , if you get caught you should man up and admit it ( maybe thats why he needed the dick pill ) .
but No It would change my stance on his GOAT status the fact he has popped he is no longer in the running IMO .

I agree, but he had a great out to say he only used it to rebuild muscle after a horrific injury at 40 years old.

Been much more believable, and I think fans would of given him sympathy after seeing his leg split in half.

He used them to fucking cheat though. Had nothing to do with his injury or dick pills. It has been proven countless times. If he were taking them legit for an injury he would have mentioned that when he declared what he has been taling before testing. He cheated, got caught in first usada piss test. Case closed.

Maybe that would've worked at the time.
But now that he got popped a second time it would've made him seem like a bigger liar for saying he only used steroids once after his injury.

Everything Silva says at the moment can be seen as a strategic move to attempt disputing the theories that he's been taking PEDs for a long time.

All I’m saying is he coulda been an “example-goat” by back then in early USADA time (don’t even think usada was implemented, just NSAC). he could have set the precedent that even the very best make bad decisions, but they will come clean about their mistakes and own up to it.

He had a perfect avenue to do it, by saying it was to rebuild muscles and heal from a gruesome injury and he was sorry.

Instead he wanted to foolishly maintain his innocence by doing the dickpill meme and making another gaff to his legacy.

If he had sung a tune along the lines of "I suffered a horrific injury in front of millions of people on top of a brutal loss and felt like I needed a boost," I'd not have blinked. What undid my perception of him was his speech about it never being a one time thing and coincidentally getting popped on his first ever random drug test (
