Would the UFC do a rubber match between Nate/Conor before having Conor defend the belt against Aldo?

God I hope not. This nonsense has gone on long enough. If Nate did lose to Conor then of course a rubber match would be fine some day but for the love of God go defend your friggin belt. I have lost so much faith in the UFC's decision making that they might just pull that crap. Aldo is rooting for Conor to lose because he believes the UFC would actually do this.

Dana said that Conor would have to defend after the fight but Dana's word is less than nothing.

Nah, if Conor beats Nate then having the Aldo fight straight afterward is too perfect.

It'd be dumb to risk him losing the trilogy to Nate before he defends his world title.

The best hype for the Aldo rematch comes with Aldo having just beat Frankie and Conor having gotten one back on Nate.

I agree with you. Hopefully Aldo is being paranoid and this would never happen.

UFC's not going to risk their cash cow Conor losing to Nate a second time (assuming Conor even wins the rematch somehow). Why people still think this is beyond me.

If Conor's next fight isn't a defense, then he should get stripped

Aldo is no dummy, he's hoping Nate wins also...probably for two reasons:
1. Send him back to 145 without another rematch
2. His mental state will most likely be affected by two straight losses

the only reason there is going to be rematch is due to Nate beating the first time there is no way in hell they are going to let Nate have a third fight if Conor wins. Depending on how he does in the 2nd fight with Nate I highly doubt the UFC will risk him fighting guys outside of the top five much less above 145 agian until he proves he's ready.

This who debacle with Nate has been a huge blunder for McGregor and the UFC. If McGregor somehow wins the second fight, they'll just say the first fight was a fluke and walk away with what's left of their dignity.

I don't think Conor can cut to 145 anymore. He won't even do 155 ffs.

curious to find out what he'll weigh for 202.

Wouldn't be surprised if he cuts a bit to make 170.

None of Dana's jackassery surprises me anymore. Of course he will let Conor duck another title defense.

They are setting it up so if Conor beats Nate, they can throw Nate to the side. Unfortunately for the UFC Nate's going to crush Conor.

If Conor were to beat Nate... Good fuckin luck. There is no fucking way in hell they would do a third. Let alone before Conor vacates. Conor would take the win and run back home as quick as he could. Proclaiming himself God's gift to humanity. His huggers would of course do likewise.

Maybe a couple years down the road. Then it would make sense. But as I don't see Conor beating Nate. There would be ZERO point in a trilogy when the score is 2 - 0. But I dont think Conor would fight him again. He'd avoid Nate like the plague. Or after being whipped twice he'd throw a hissy fit and demand a best out of five. It's hard to imagine what crazy bat shit that guy would want.

Personally I never wanted this second fight at the " McGregor Fuckery Weight Division ". I sure as fuck don't need to see it three times.

Pre-Sell, the UFC made matches that made the most financial sense. Money 1st, Legitimacy 2nd. Despite having been sold, the company still has the same infrastructure intact run by the same personnel minus the Fertittas so I see no reason to believe anything will be different in their decisions for the foreseeable future.

So in answer to your questions, if a rubber match will sell better than a title defense damn straight that rubber match is going to happen first.

Thread over. Excellent post.

Under 2 conditions, if Conor won re match in a fight of the night type fight and mcgregor would have to leave 145.,,,,,
,,...realisticly, though, Conor would not do the rubber fight until a later date.He would have the win over Diaz in the bank and hed keep it that way .He then would either take one last fight at fw in re match with Aldo or he fights whoever has 155 title.

At this point I expect anything from the UFC.

No, I see the rubber match taking place late in 2017, by then there will be an appetite for a 3rd fight.
