... There were no Flyweight division?

Or would Bantamweight then just be the small guys, the manlets etc.

In short - Is the existence of the Flyweight Division important for the popularity of the Bantamweight Division?

Isn't 135 the most popular division on sherdog? What are you talking about.

TJ vs Garbrandt would've been big fights even if Flyweight never existed. Popularity of a division depends on star power of fighters more than their weight. Like Floyd and Manny showed.

BW devision is doing just fine compared to other divisions. Maybe there could be more starpower but that's the case for most other divisions too. 135 is stacked well, and definitely one the deeper divisions now imo.

People generally just don’t show a lot of respect to weight classes that are lower than the weights of their girlfriends. Sad but true.

They’ve never had a true star at 125-135. Right or wrong. Stacked or not. That’s just a fact of life.

135 , 145 and 155 dominate the popularity as we approach 2022......its not the way its supposed be but it's the way it is.

I dont know what you're talking about.

If your girlfriend weighs more than Jose Aldo she got some problems.

TS isnt saying BW isnt popular... hes asking if it would be less popular if FLW didnt exist... because then it would become the manletist weight class in the ufc if u took flw away... and there is probably some truth to his point. the existence of 125 is propping up 135

It's popular now bro.

125 really sucks. other then moreno and figuerdo who fights there.

so ya just merge it with 135
Alexandre Pantoja, Brandon Royval, Askar Askarov, Manel Kape, Sumudaerji, Kai Kara-France, David Dvorak, Amir Albazi, Rogerio Bontorin, plus a bunch of interesting prospects like Muhammad Mokaev, Jake Hadley, and Kleydson Rodrigues.

The only thing that would happen if FlW was removed is that the very few elite FlWs might break lower top 10 at BW but wouldn't make BW less or more interesting. Cejudo should return though, he's the king of cringe but he's at least competitive with BWs and exciting to watch.

Maybe - but LW was plenty popular when it was the lightest division in the UFC, certainly more popular than say MW at the time. Back then people called them manlets and stuff etc.

And don't forget the new addition...Garbrandt

FW and BW did get called little guys, midgets initially.

Manlet division below 6'0 200#
Regular Division up to 6'5 265#
SHERDOG Class 6'7 and up #365 (cap on bd fat%11)
You forgot the hung like a stallion criteria for Sherdog Class...but I digress it should be implied.
