Id go yes as they have marketed a 1 fighter division

I watch a lot of mma and the first time i heard of carmouche was when it was announced she would fight for the belt

Without looking it up (on purpose) i think ufc have 2 other female fighters. Boring miesha tate and possibly sarah kauffman

To me this seems a more risky strategy than having your main event as kimbo crushing cans.

If rousey loses then getting on the phone to gina carano and offering her a shot at the belt seems only move and thats only if she can make 135. Carmouche v tate or carmouche kauffmann as main event on ufc ppv would be a joke numbers wise. And i dont think fox would air it so couldn't stick it on there

Womens mma needs rousey to crush cans for a while, whilst a division forms
I think dana realised this and doesnt want cyborg to be the woman hes forced to market

don't think her opponent would wanna win,

shortly put: YES

thats why she has a gimme fight coming up

Without a doubt yes. I feel bad for Liz because she is in a very strange position for a fighter.

Oh and there is someone in WMMA who could make for an interesting competitive fight. Another Olympian.

UFC has WMMA just because of Rousey so yeah, I guess it'd be pretty catastrophic if she loses tonight.

She's the face of women's mma. Remember when Gina was the face of women's mma and then along came Cyborg. I thought the popularity diminished as a result of that. I like how dominant Cyborg is, but I just had the overall impression that it wasn't where it was before. It's the same scenario with Rousey. She's in the same shoes Gina was in when she lost. It's starting to grow again thanks in part to Rousey. But if she loses I see the same thing happening that happened when Cyborg made Gina retire!

I dont think so. The UFC are a smart company and have likely prepared for that contingency. It's not like Liz is unmarketable or Rhonda becomes unmarketable also if she's not the champ or not undefeated. It may slow it down some but it will almost certainly not spell the cataclysmic end some are predicting

Yes. However, she won't lose. So this experiment will continue.

Lets just say there is a reason she is fighting Liz.

Liz is a perfect opponent for Ronda, think about it.
An all American former Marine who served in Afghanistan 3 times.
If she beats Ronda, Dana can drop Ronda as an 'amateur Olympian' and turn his attentions to Liz. Tell us this proves just how strong WMMA is and why this was such a big fight.
Then they can promote Liz as the All American war hero turns athletic superstar.

Far better choice than Cyborg the steroid fueled Brazilian.

Lol UFC really made you think this is a fair fight? Liz will lose

Where have I said that?

By saying Liz can win. Lol. She has zero chance. Ronda is better at everything . This is like Anderson silva fighting some random guy on sherdog who weighs 173. This Won't be a fight. This Ronda fight is a sacrifice.

Where have I said that either?

Would rousey losing be a catastrophe for womens mma?

Women's MMA exists outside of the UFC for a while, so whether Rousey wins or loses isn't a catastrophe for WMMA. However, Rousey losing could mean that the WMMA in the UFC could get cut.

But Rousey won't lose when she's matched up in a gimme fight vs. Carmouche.

Dana White on the possibilities:

Ronda wins, "Ronda is the best in the world and tonight proved that with her win over Liz."

Liz wins, "This proves to all the fucking goofs who said WMMMA wasn't ready for the big leagues were talking out their asses. Liz beating Ronda shows there is depth enough for Women's MMA in the UFC."

i dont think so. they also have made 2 women's matches already. it's not the best that ronda will lose but i dont think it will be that catastrophic. imo they could build upon liz with the upset and maybe set a rematch
