Opinion Would Ronald Reagan win the republican nomination today?

Every 4 years Republican candidates talk about wanting to emulate him but how would his decent character sit with the right today?

Could his soft spoken tone and respectful demeanor hope to compete with the amplified, brash and rude Trump? Would his folksy charm still appeal against the trademark sleaze sold by Ted Cruz, Giuliani, Graham and Gaetz?

I fear the party of Reagan would today label him weak and he'd suffer the same fate as Jeb Bush. It's a terrible shame.

As a Marine, I do have a bit of a soft spot for Reagan. As an American, I don't.
