Yes. The cage tends to help fighters get back up... it would be a hell of a lot tougher to get back up once Khabib has you down if there's no cage to help out.

Sure it would, he would have an easier time cornering people to close the distance. A lot of the time he gets takedowns against the fence because his opponent cant escape from that position without grappling. He chain wrestles well with and without the fence, and his opponents couldnt use the fence to wall walk or anything.

A lot of his early fights were in a ring.
