Would GSP have been as dominant if he was more aggressive on the ground?

GSP was always about calculated risks but I think he could have finished guys like Dan Hardy and Condit on the ground.

I think instead of this sub attempt GSP could have smashed his face in.

I think he could have thrown more here than he did.

GSP was never a Lay and Pray guy once. He was always active.

But if you see the Bisping fight, if he tried to be more aggressive he takes more damage but he can put guys away. Big strong guys!

GSP was always all about not taking damage, which is smart. It obviously paid off for him.

Why take unnecessary risks just to finish someone, when you can win with minimal damage taken?

GSP got his face sliced up by brown belt Michael Ping using elbows from the bottom

Imagine what Prime Silva(legit BJJ Black Belt) would've done. He almost finished EPO Sonnen via nasty cuts with his guard strikes.

That is, if the Canadian managed to take Silva down before getting KTFO

How many more fans would he have if he finished 1 fight per year?

I think he used his skills as well as he could have

He wasn't someone like Khabib who had been grappling since he could walk.

He knew his limitations and took risks when it was safe

GSP won a belt at 185 after Hendricks had zero successful WW title defenses, started absorbing beat down losses and then ate himself into oblivion. GSP career way > than Hendricks career.

He fought since Hendricks, going onto win the MW title while Hendricks was getting knocked out by a gay porn star (Dakota Cochrane, LW) 40 pounds overweight and washed up.

Early in his career (I'd say after the Serra debacle) he chose longevity over flash.

Seemed to work out pretty well for him.

    MORE aggressive on the ground?

You seriously need to watch more GSP fights if you think he wasn't active enough on the ground.

He is the GOAT fighter, athlete and model citizen.

he did gymnastics to beat your ass more and outwrestled lifelong NCAA All-Americans using his Canadian wrestling he picked up after age 23 years old.

Being more aggressive creates more openings for the opponent to escape or sweep. It's a lot harder to do anything against a guy who objective is to stay in position than against a guy who's objective is to submit or strike.

And Jon Jones has went to a 5 round decision 6 of his last 7 fights.
(You can’t count his dick pill NC)
That can happen when you’re fighting championship level competition every fight.

GSP is one of the greatest ever, And had the skills to finish a lot of his opponents if he wanted to. However, instead he chose to (And became a specialist at) holding his opponents down, And just move enough to please the ref. Or pump his jab for 5 rds.

I think he did the right thing. Had he gone for the finish, And played less safe, he would probably have had a few more Ls on his record, made less money, And hurt his legacy And future income.
