Would GSP be as respected if he fought sub .500 guys near the end of his career?

Because that's exactly what Holly Holm did in boxing...three of her last ten fights were against opponents with more losses than wins (one girl got a rematch). Is this how all time greats are supposed to end their careers?

Out of her last ten fights, Holm fought Terri Blair (11-13-2), Victoria Cisneros (3-7-2) and then rematched Cisneros a year and a half later when she improved to 5-11-2.

Sorry...would have gave examples for GSP but couldn't find guys at 170lbs with losing records easily enough and didn't want to spend too much time looking but you get the point.

Discuss.

GSP would be respected if he could actually finish a fight, or agreed to a rematch with the biggest threat of his reign.

by this same stupid logic, people should lose all respect for Julio Cesar Chavez for fighting cans after the Meldrick Taylor fight which is generally considered one of the greatest fights/comebacks of all time

1990-08-18 141 Russell Mosley 143

GSP is the most respected figure in the history of MMA.

You know your argument is pretty fucking bad when it's basically as follows...
"No one respects him because even though he beat everyone in one of the deepest divisions MMA has ever seen, and did so in dominating fashion, he didn't finish a lot of his fights and one of the guys he beat it was pretty close."

Okay pal, and Floyd Mayweather is a shit boxer because his style doesn't appeal to the Just Bleed crowd right?

he still wouldn't get any finishes facing those sub .500 fighters.

so the answer is no, he still wouldn't be respected.

I don't understand the purpose of this thread. If meant to disparage Holm, most MMA fans didn't even know (or respect) Holm before she got in to the UFC. If it's to point out the Women's divisions lack talent, yes most people know that.

GSP haters are great for a laugh. GSP has accomplished more in a few years than any of you losers will in your entire burger flipping lives. He's respected all over the world, you clowns aren't even respected in your trailer parks.

Excatly my friend . Also GSP tapped to punches to the biggest upset ever in mma history and would not make a super fight with Anderson.

Holly also rarely ever fought outside of New Mexico. Regional queen. Last Empress is going to destroy her standing.

You failed to note that she may also have other activities in her career besides boxing.

One of those three fights was intertwined with MMA fights. For instance from December 2010 to December 2011 (1 year) she fought two MMA fights and three boxing matches (five fights). Is that not good enough for you?

In 2013 she fought one boxing match and three MMA fights (four fights).

Floyd Mayweather Jr is finishing his career against a boxer who has lost three out of his last six fights.

Don't know if you got the memo, but women's boxing is incredibly weak, far weaker than mma. Holm fought some cans, but also some great female boxers as well. Compare her to her peers, not GSP.

This

GSP will never be respected until he starts finishing fights and stops his boring lay and pray decisionfests

It's one of the few places where you can find people who can't finish a 25 minute jog, shaming others for their inability to finish a top ranked MMA fighter.

Their respect is hard earned, but probably worth it.

truth is fans that likes technical and dominant fighters respects him and probably would if he fought .500 fighters

but for fans like you that prefers "just bleed" kind of fight answer will always be No.

I googled your name and i found this in the related search:

I think this will match your preferences and IQ
