I think this is a nightmare matchup for Overeem if they would like him to win but it would be interesting nonetheless. I think this fight makes most sense for both men though.

I smell a knock out. Could go either way, but Reem is the favorite

I feel like Overeem still takes this fairly easily. As long as he can avoid Carwin's big punches (which isn't too hard, Carwin isn't exactly fast), he can win.

With that said, Carwin has a hell of a chin and a ton of heart. He won't just fold to a couple hard shots from the Reem. He could easily land a big punch in a wild exchange.

This fight may have made sense three years ago but not now. From what people are saying Carwin isn't planning on fighting and at his age I think he has slowed down plenty compared to when he went on a tear a few years ago.

Carwin's back in action??? When, who, where, how????##:icon_neut

I can't believe this guy was once a UFC champion.

Carwin?

When he was younger he had a Liddell like skill set. Monstrous power that he somehow found a way to put on people. He also had pretty great TDD and scramble ability (he got out from under Gonzaga with little effort).

I mean, his only 2 losses aren't bad either. He beat the lips off of Brock until his body shut down and he lost to JDS, who is one of the best fighters the division has seen in years.

Not exactly embarrassing losses. If he was a few years younger he'd still be kicking major ass at HW.

It's a shame really. His boxing was starting to look better in the JDS fight. He was slowly beginning to look like a boxer rather than just a dude who had big power.

Yeah, I didn't mean to diminish his skill set, It's just strange how he was near the top couple years ago and now everybody almost completely forgot of him.

Oh, yeah.

JDS I think is the reason for that. After seeing JDS school Carwin like that, people realized he was probably too old to make anymore noise at HW.

It be cool to see him come back for one more fight against a mid tier HW. Carwin was always a favourite to watch.

Well he hasn't won a fight in over 3 years and hasn't fought in almost 2.

Depends what heightclass they fight in. Carwin is a monster at 6'5'', but when he cuts to 6'2'', he loses some of his power and endurance.
