Would boxer Chris Algieri beat McGregor with ease....

I would love to see it. Conor would not want to stand with this guy. It's interesting how Amir Khan & Pac Man made Algieri look like a bum. He would do the same vs Conor in a kickboxing match.

Would love to see him come to MMA, he has a chance to do well.

LOL, wut?

Jeez. Unlike most of the people in this thread, I've actually watched Algieri fight (vs. provodnikov, pacquiao and Khan). And, you know, he's a good, intelligent fighter- huge for the division he fights in, but there just isn't anything special about him. Little power, ok speed, decent athleticism but always in shape and prepared. He could make the transition into mma and would probably do well because he is smart and works hard - but he is not the type of guy to go straight in and beat a top guy like McGregor.

It's impressive. It's just too bad kickboxing is not promoted or shown enough. Great sport.

Yeah, it's a great sport. my point was just that top kickboxers don't care about this competition.

Poor Chris Algieri. He wants to--or at least wanted to--eventually go to medical school and become a doctor. Maybe that'll be possible if he goes to some third world country diploma mill where he can just write a check, but given how many times he's been punched in the head he'll be lucky if he can tie his own shoes and speak without drooling by the time he retired let alone get through med school here.

Money wise Algieri was making $200,000 a fight until he fought Pacquiao which he made $1.5m, before his cut of ppv sales.
His last fight against Amir Khan he made $500,000

Would you say Overeem has better kickboxing credentials than Antonio Silva, Travis Browne and Ben Rothwell?

LOL, wut?

I was comparing how algieri lost to top boxers like Khan and Manny. But he would dominate conor in kickboxing the way he (algieri) was dominated in his last 2 fights. Huge talent difference for people comparing the 2.

Not long before this he made like only 15K per fight.

The same Algieri who got TKOed aganist Manny Reyes jr and KTFO against some old guy? I don't think it would be easy infact if it was in MMA I think Conor would beat him senseless. Boxing is the only combat where Algieri would clearly win against Conor. I don't think Algieri has the power to hurt Conor either.

lol he would be conors punching bag

not really. he would just make the fight really boring to watch.

if provodnikov couldn't stop algieri, then Conor most certainly can't

If he could, he would

This:

He can fight McGregor for $100k or make $2m in two fights in boxing. Wonder what he would choose.

But I have to admit, I am extremely intrigued but they would need a gentleman's agreement to keep it standing.

It's funny when people bring up Overeem in discussions like this. Like there isn't a massive difference between Ubereem & the deflated shell that's fought all but one of his fights in the UFC.

I went to school with him and he is a naturally tough guy. He has no bjj so he would probably get sub'd if it ended up on the ground. But he was a beast in the wrestling room in high school. Smart guy and hard worker but I dont think he could beat conor in an MMA match. He would destroy him in a boxing match.

Also he did not get tooled by Amir Khan, that was a close fight. Whoever said that didnt watch the fight.

Would he beat Aldo?

I think him and Aldo would be another good fight that Algieri could take.
Any fighter whose base is striking is gonna be in deep shit facing Algieri.
The minute Algieri steps in the cage he instantly becomes the best striker in the UFC.
Now Aldos bjj is what makes this interesting and his kicks, but Algieri still has the advantage standing up.
I honestly think Algieri embarrasses Conor, eeks by Aldo and loses to a guy like Mendes.
Algieri doesnt have much power in his punches, but with 4oz gloves and fighting grapplers im assuming his power goes up a few notches, but if Mendes gets through the first punch than its probably 3min of grappling until he secures some type of hold.
But Algieri might be a TDD specialist after 6-12 months of training

khan, pac, floyd, bradley, algereri

would all knock connor the fuk out if its a pure striking match

Algieri made 500k his last fight. His fight against Pacquiao, the second biggest name in his sport, is estimated to have drawn around 300,000. And now that he's lost twice decisively he's probably reached his ceiling in boxing. So lol, yes.
