I’ve done martial arts for 20 years. I’ve had the opportunity to spar/grapple/wrestle practitioners at all levels. As a result, I’ve gotten my ass kicked sooooo many times. And I think after so many ass kickings, I can officially say the worst way and it may surprise some.

In my humble opinion, there is nothing worse than fighting a great wrestler who is smacking you with pitter-patter punches. On TV it looks lame and pointless and you hardly want to credit the guy a winner even though he dominated. But if you’ve never experienced it, let me describe it:

When you have a great wrestler controlling you, one of the first things you will feel is uncomfortable heat. No matter his size, he feels like 500 lbs and unbearably hot. Second, you are short of breath because of his weight on top of you and because every inch you try to move requires your full strength. And you desperately want to move because he has restricted the movement of every limb. That combined with the heat and trouble catching your breath becomes a terrifying sense of claustrophobia. Honestly at those times I just want him to let go of an arm not even so I can defend myself, but just so I can feel myself stretch and move for a second. And all the while this human coffin is punching you lightly in the face like Chinese water torture and you can’t even stop it. It’s the worst. A great wrestler can make you almost want to tap just to get out of the position.

That said, getting your ass kicked by repeated leg kicks is also awful.

Thoughts?

I thought this was gonna be about real fighting out on the streets.

Pretty much what you said. The last two ass-whoopings Khabib has handed out looked like they wouldn't be fun to receive.

Getting smacked around by a female. Had a situation once where an acquaintances GF found out I wasn't a fan. Her boyfriend and 4 of his buddies surrounded me while I was walking home from school and she took potshots at me. No fun at all not being able to hit back.

Good OP.

I'd have to go with breaking your leg on your oponents leg.

That's a loss that keeps on giving

Yes, death by a thousand cuts is definitely the worst.

Being held down, tired as fck, knowing if the other guy wanted to they could literally kill you.

Literally getting kicked in your ass.

Submission by "bodyheat"? you been training with Lindland?

For competition, i gotta say personally , it was fighting taller guys that spam push kicks.
They dont do any damage, but you look like a goofball when you get pushed off balance and to a casual it looks like youre getting your ass kicked

For the streets, getting your ass kicked in front of your girl. Whether she ever admits it or not,and no matter what the odds were against you, she loses some hespect for you after seeing you get that ass beat.
Same goes for a father..you don't want to see your dad get beat up, or for your kids to see you get beat up
Shatters the dream

Not me. Idc if some dude can lay on top of me and pitter patter me with punches. What sucks is fighting a superior boxer who can impose his game. He isolates your wrestling and your counter low kicks and keeps jabbing and throwing straights all night. That’s the worst.
However, I’ve gotten so good at striking that I outbox everyone. Whoever I can’t outbox, I outkickbox. Whoever I can’t outkickbox, I can panic-wrassle.
But yeah, fighting a superior striker who you can’t get close to or take down sucks the worst imo. Painful, dangerous, heart-breaking shit.

There are so many annoying ways,

I sparred a pro boxer once and his jab was murder, he could just whip that thing and it would hit me everytime and whenever I tried something he effortlessly moved, it was like when you play fight with your 3 year old cousin and just throw him around.

Going against a high level jiujitsu guy sucks, they counter everything, do what they want and are strong as hell, it's basically like you are being raped and you can feel your energy draining.

In the ring, guys who can circle and cut you off are a nightmare aswell, nothing worse than not being able to trap a guy and also not being able to get away from him.

Worst to me is many-rounds sparring with some muay thai high level dude with ridicolous heavy and conditioned shin-bones

These dudes even when they go easy will hurt a lot with low kicks, both landed or bad blocked.
And shin vs shin clashes make you curse gods, is like kick the corner of a wall

Worst scenario ex retired pros that feel they need to proof something lol

One issue of course is that if your sparring then wrestlers can arguably go harder than strikers/sub grapplers since theres not the same potential for inflicting damaging.

I got in a fight once where a guy had me in a headlock and had side control and was jabbing my face. I could do nothing. Was embarrassing. I went into peewee wrestling after that. Got my revenge a few years later.

Smothered by a fatty.

I had one match where I got thoroughly outboxed, got knocked down twice, and then finished with a tko against the ropes. If I put up a good fight and got dropped during an exchange it wouldn't have been as bad but I couldn't even put a fight. It was thorough beating from beginning to end. It was really discouraging and embarrassing.
