had about the worst luck ever at the senishow this month.
it was my second competition. i was entered for the heavyweight white belt division.
got there at 9.30am.
i asked at one of the desks when the heavyweights would be fighting and some brazilian guy told me that it would be at 2pm.
im not ashamed to admit that i was pretty nervous so i watched some of the first fights and then figured the best thing for me would to have a sleep to settle my nerves.
i woke up about 1pm and started to warm myself up.
i then waited till 2pm expecting to be called.
from 2pm to 4pm i was given a dozne different answers from the judges. turns out the light heavy weights where at 2pm and the heavyweights had been fitted in just after the super flyweights in the morning.
i was so fucking gutted.
i guess the lesson was dont sleep during the day otherwise you might miss your division.

LOLZ!!!

the worst for me is lossing and getting a hyperextended elbow from an arm bar

Having some guy LNP in my guard, 0-0 with ten seconds left, I attempt a crazy submission, he passes, I lose. I was informed later that there would have been an overtime.....

wow. the stuff that happened so far sucks. the worst thing that happened to me is i pronounced xande ribeiros name wrong when i met him... he wasnt real pleased about it.

For me it was probably when I showed up late for a tournament and I had to fight right away. I didn't have time to warm up so during my match I was in turtle then BAM both of my legs get charlie horses and it hurt like a bitch. I seriously thought I was going to lose

I still won on points some how

i was so naive
it was my second tournament and i thought that the fights would go in weight order and by belt like the first tournament i went to.

My first submission tournament was horrible.

I didn't bring enough solid food to a tourney. That killed it. All I had was a bag of carrots and some water and my stomach was very excited so 5 minutes later those carrots were ready to be shitted out so I dropped them off and my belly and insides decided to chill out. The only problem was that there was no schedule at all so I never knew when I'd be called and people my belt/size were getting called often so I didn't eat anymore so I didn't have to worry about pulling a Randleman.

Needless to say, 6 hours went by waiting to get called and I go up to the table and realized they are just calling random names from crumpled pieces of paper and my division was done because I just didn't get penciled in. I went from that gi-mat to the no-gi mat and found my name (I was supposed to compete both) and waited 2 more hours there before getting a match.

While I was at the no-gi table, some 5'0'' 30yr 130lbs guy comes storming up yelling at the table guy, "I haven't had a match, I've been here 8 hours!"

The table guy replies, "I'm just some guy from the crowd trying to make this run. I'm just running what's on these papers."

Another guy with a crew t-shirt popped up and handed the the guy a $0.50 silver medal, "Here you go, bud." And the guy took it and walked away. That killed my day.

but back to me, the problem was that all the guys in my weight 180 had left because they were disappointed and there were only a few guys left so I got jumped into the advanced bracket and up a weight. So I got owned and tapped to a better guy. I just came there to do whatever and get some experiance and I ran into a guy who had cut down a little to really compete. I got baited into a double leg attempt, then got caught with the nicest anaconda choke. So, experiance is what I got. Live and learn.

The only downside is that I really got turned off from tournaments. I was used to wrestling in school and it's all clockwork with orders and digital or flipcard signs that saw the weight, round, time, score and etc.

Getting signed up in the wrong weight class and not being allowed to change it since Nova Uniao has some beef with BTT. Then when I fought in the higher division I got clock-choked unconscious in front of a thousand people.

I also got my AC joint injured in a SW comp and was out for 3 week.

having my rib dislocate thirty seconds into my first no gi match was not so fun. i was better than my opponent but was reduced to a lot of grabbing and stalling to get the win by an advantage since my torso movement was severely limited.

then at the 2006 pan ams and united gracie being told that i won the finals in my division. only to have someone grab me ten minutess later and tell me to get on the mat right away that i had one more match. i lost the finals at the pan ams but won the finals at the united gracie.

Getting teeth-choked 'till I tapped in SW and when the ref halted the action my opponent subsequently proceeded to adjust his hold down onto my neck and lift me up by it choking the daylights out of me before the ref restarted it and the ref let it go.
All the while the ref was standing a foot away with perfect view of it all.

F'ing ref!

As a brown, getting choked unconscious by an orange in his first senior competition.

I'll never let myself live THAT one down.

That would truely suck.
I know that I personally completely relax mentally and physically (almost to the point of exhaustion) after I've finished all my matches. I can't imagine trying to step back onto the mat...

thats exactly how it went down. at the pan ams i wandered off to get food and take a nap before the open. then at the united gracie i checked the actuall bracket before i went outside to call my wife. at the gracie united i was so pissed that it happened twice i was able to get the steam going for my final match.

Mine would have to be at the NAGA Worlds in New Jersey this year. I was there at 9 AM and didn't fight until after 11 PM. And, losing my first (and only) match. All that waiting is draining. You never know when to warm up, or when to be ready. Hardly seems worth the money.

When will promoters choose tighter organization over greed?

dropped from 210lbs to 197 lbs in a day........ to make weight.

Got to the tournament and no one showed up for middle weight, heavy weight, or super heavy weight.. So i got thrown in Open weight.. Got 2nd place and lost in the finals to this 275lb 30 year old George Foreman looking guy. Cracked my strenum the next day.. think it had to do witht he serious weight that guy was dropping on my chest. 5 minutes of the fight he spent in kesa smashing my ribs..

Last saturday at NAGA, winning comfortably on points and i get armbarred from guard as i let my concentration go...completely forget the defence and instead of stacking him i try to pull out...hyperextended elbow for my troubles!

I fought at a home tournament like a year ago, turns out, I had to fight one of my teammates in the finals, he took me down, took my back right away and choked me unconscious, i was out for like 30 seconds..i woke up and didnt know where i was for a lil bit, and when i figured it out i said out loud: "Did I tap?" EVERYBODY there was laughing their asses off at me after i said that, but oh well, second place, no biggie.

Heh, I read the thread title and was thinking about the time I decided to catch a quick nap and woke up two hours later, missing my entire bracket. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only guy this has happened to.

Last year in a judo competition i tried a flying armbar as it is something of a speciality of mine. It was against quite a big guy who took a strong overhand collar grip on me. I tried the armbar and he simply held me up in mid air for a few seconds then sat me flat on my back for the easiest ippon of his life! Could hear people laughing at the side of the mat but im stil glad i tried it!

LOL, this thread has made my day. More stories please.

On a side note, batman69, I believe I dislocated a rib, around how long did it take you to heal up? How long where you out of training?
