Worst Rear Naked Choke In TV/Film History

Sorry, just have to bitch for a second because it was so awful.

Just getting into the show 'Dexter' on Showtime, it's really great btw. Anyway...

***SPOILER DEXTER EPISODE 11***

... just watched the scene where the Ice Truck Killer slaps a RNC on a prostitute, and it looked so bad and so fake that it made me physically angry

The worst part is he's explaining the choke to her as he does it, trying to sound cool...

Meanwhile, his forearm is flush against her throat, there is NO pressure being applied to the sides of her neck, and his fingers are just kind of laying lazily on his bicep, not clasping it at all.

What's weird is, earlier in the season a different actor (the lead) performed a RNC in a scene, and I was impressed with how realistic it looked.

Anyway sorry. Again, just had to bitch. Anbody else seen this, or have other contenders for the worst 'Hollywood-choke' in film history?

Hope this isn't considered a spoiler, but there's mention in season 2 (ice truck is season 1) of Dexter having taking some sort of jiu jitsu (With I believe a brief demo, so someone there knows _something_)

The actual choke was good though.

Hey speaking of hooks, if I'm going to trash Hollywood when they get it wrong, it's only fair to credit the few who get it completely right.

LOL, I actually saw that "Dexter" show (randomly, for the first time) but I missed the choke. It was the same episode, too. Was it in the very beginning of the episode?

Haha, I love that show and thought the exact same thing when I saw that scene. His other arm was practically on top her head.

I liked Dexter's little wrist hold thing in his brief fight with Dokes at the end of the season, even if it was a bit unrealistic.

That's a good fight. I even had that tingly feeling in my neck the way you get when you are watching your highschool/college friends get amped up for a fight.

Final episode of Justice League: Unlimited. "Destroyer." Batman does an RNC on Braniac-Darkseid at 2:34 of the clip.

Mistake 1 - trying it on the Lord of Apokolips in the first place. Especially when he's pumped up on Brainac.

Mistake 2 - NO HOOKS. Not like it would have mattered anyway, but still. Bats is supposed to be like, an uber ninjer.

Yeah there's one in the first half of the episode, where he chokes a prostitute. But then there's ANOTHER one, which is actually even WORSE, where he chokes Dexter's sister at the end of the same episode.

I actually didn't see the second choke until after I wrote the original post here, and my God is it terrible.

Yeah that's the good one I was talking about in my OP.

Just goes to show you the difference in professionalism between actors. I'll bet anything that Michael Hall (Dexter) actually bothered to research a RNC, and get it right... whereas the actor playing the Ice Truck Killer probably just winged it on the set like a jerkoff. (And it showed)

The hooks are to control them preventing them from escaping. It also allows you to stretch them out to finish the choke.
