Worst fall from the grace of mma fans: Hunt or Fedor?

Seems like Mark Hunt has had the most precipitous decline in popularity of any fighter in quite awhile. The man love for Fedor has diminished a bit as well because he went on the skid and never fought in the UFC.

Has anyone gone from being fan favorite to reviled as quickly as Mark Hunt?

Hendricks comes to mind but I don't think he was ever very popular. Cain has lost a lot of luster as well but that's really due to shelf time more than a big mouth getting him in trouble.

Hunt when he became vocal about roids. Online a lot of backlash about him being a whiner etc. Those guys failed though because he's still a cool dude and fans like his style.

now that I think of it... its also really disgusting how people shit on Fedor since his decline.

I remain a fan of both. Fedor generates a lot of hate because he's a GOAT candidate and there's understandably a lot of controversy and debate around that - but Hunt? I have no idea, I guess the steroid thing pissed off some kids, but I think he's still a pretty damn popular fighter.

I’ve am fans of both. Been a fan of hunt before he ever competed in mma.

I would imagine fans like myself , who have been fans of combat sports for a very long time don’t really care what a fighter says and you will be a fan of the fighter based on the fights they entertained you with in the past.

I didn’t like the steroid cop out from Hunt. But I don’t care what these guys say.
I have no qualms. I like fighting. I liked fighting before I saw mma. I still like fighting.

I don’t know why you guys watch but I watch for the fighting and only that.

I don't think Fedor has fallen from grace in the sense of people turning on him. Even in his prime he had plenty of detractors - they just get more numerous as he keeps fighting farther and farther removed from his prime, and people who remember the 2005 Fedor become outnumbered by newer fans. Watching Fedor and Cro Cop on Fight Pass today is just not the same experience as waiting forever for the fight to happen, then freaking out as Fedor ate a head kick, survived, and took it to CC on the feet. It was bananas.

I agree with the people upthread saying that Hunt lost some shine when he started complaining that everyone else was roiding. For some reason it never bothered me when Bisping did the same thing, but that's because Bisping is a shit talker and it's expected. Hunt was beloved because he didn't seem to GAF. Once he started to come off as whining or making excuses for his losses, he was just another aging .500 fighter. And I say that as a guy who LOVED Pride Hunto.

Hunt went from Pride, to the UFC not even wanting to give him a fight in the UFC. Then went on to get a title fight, and is now making 800k per fight or more. How is that a fall from grace?
