Just got my body fat % tested today on a machine at my gym. came up as -1.9%. thats right MINUS 1.9%. i didnt even think that was physically possible but never mind. is this very unhealthy? it also said i am slighty under-weight by a couple of pounds but nothing major. take inot account that i had just had a big work out and was fooking hungry.

I think the machine might need to be callibrated.. Isn't it impossible to have negative bodyfat %? I'm sure you'd get sick long before reaching 0% .. or .. Die.

I don't think it is possible to be in the negatives? If you don't have any body fat then you don't have any body fat. Next time you work out try it again.

I think the only accurate way to test body fat is that water scale thing.

Hydration levels drastically affect body fat % measurements (as well as your weight). For the best accuracy, you need to be drinking 8 glasses of water a day, your urine should be CLEAR or very close to it before you measure. Especially important after a workout when you are going to be under hydrated...

What kind of machine? There are a few. Maybe try getting tested using calipers....at least they won't show up negative :)

Wow, Negative fat? bet you work at 110% during your workouts, might want to tone it down to 100%. Bet you have muscles growing out of your muscles, damn, I bet your shit is even made out of muscle.

Ha that reminds me of the only time I've ever seen Conan O'Brian, he went to a health club or something and was telling the girls there how he had muscles on top of muscles . . . that had their own muscles,

    I'm easily amused.

Another useful thread in the Diet forum.

Negative body fat is impossible as already stated.

    Let the useless threads die.

Rjkd12 are we here to discuss off topic bullshit, spread misinformation and possibly injure people or are we here to provide useful information that we as athelets can utilize to become better in our sport?

In my opinion, any one that posts in this forum has a moral responsibility to ensure that their information is accurate, useful and safe.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that if I wanted to wade through a sewer I could head over to the off-topic forum. This forum is supposed to be on point discussions of diet and nutrition, is it not?

I'm not trying to flame you. I know you've posted information in the past. But have you looked through the threads lately? I'm disappointed. Perhaps my standards are set too high...

No biggy valgarv. The idea of the quality of threads in S&P was recently brought up. I was just messing around. I don't think a thread about negative bodyfat is going to harm anyone. If this was something like taking certain drugs I would post differently. A thread about negative bodyfat is amusing, and I think an amusing thread every now and then is funny.

There should be a higher quality of posting here, and to be honest I think its going ok. If anything I think that we need some new and better questions. I gave up having really high standars a while back. I mean, how many actual very interesting topics where the posters take a lot of time to read up prior to posting do you expect? IMO a few a month makes me happy. But also, I have gotten very busy lately so I don't participate much anymore and that has made me lower my expectations quite a bit. I mean, if I"m not prepared to do 30 mins of research and spend quite a bit of time for each post, how can I expect the same from others?
