Anyone else worried about mousasi's choice of management/training camp? His standup is great as is his instincts. However he seems to have only just started training with a grappling and nutrition coach. Apparently he hassent been taking the game seriously up until his fight with Mike Kyle. I expected him to look better. I understand ringrust but his takedown atempts looked awfull and he absorbed allot more shots than usual. Thoughts anyone?

He didn't absorb that many shots. As for his takedowns, he's years into his fighting career, and has never been an explosive, athletic type (nor do I believe does he have any wrestling background). I wouldn't expect any training camp to manifest significant improvements there.

he has gotten by with natural talent....he is in desperate need of a solid camp for a good year before fighting in the ufc...he should train with Serra and Weidman and Costa who can walk around 200+ and get to that 185 comfortable

i don't know what you mean by "just started training with a grappling.... coach" but mousasi is a judo black belt and has plenty of submission wins in his career (11 of 33)

he had 2 takedown attempts in the mike kyle fight of which the 2nd was completed and lead to the finish

Before this last fight he signed with management company alchemist (mc hammer's company) they have Rory Macdonald, Mardquart, Struve, Schuab, Amoussou and others. Mousasi said he now wants to move his training to the USA so it looks like he making the right changes now (He trained with Struve' for this camp).

He only went for 2 and got the 2nd rather easily, he dominated Kyle once it hit the floor. First round submission, can't really ask for much more.

Didn't come away with any injuries so hopefully he is back fighting soon!

Not training like a champion or with phenomenal camps is one thing now everyones twisting it around like he's never trained haha.

"However he seems to have only just started training with a grappling coach"

seriously TS ...seriously?

I'd like to see him train at either TriStar or maybe with the Blackzillians.

Apparently, getting a judo black belt doesn't count as getting grappling training.

He needs to change camp and drop down a weight class. He doesn't use his full potential, and I think he's going to realize that in his first UFC fight

Indeed. It's kind of stupid.

Yeah. What the fuck, TS? Are you not aware of Mousasi's background or fights prior to his bout with Kyle? You are sorely misinformed on Mousasi.

He hasn't trained with Fedor or anything. You guys are ridiculous . If he wants to win a UFC belt hell need to drill wrestling and up his cardio but his natural talent is BJ Penn esque. He's done some amazing things against much bigger and explosive opponents. Mark Hunt anyone?

Bunch of people who know nothing about him giving their opinions...maroons.

Definition of MAROON
1: capitalized : a fugitive black slave of the West Indies and Guiana in the 17th and 18th centuries; also : a descendant of such a slave
2: a person who is marooned
Origin of MAROON
probably from French maron, marron feral, fugitive, modification of American Spanish cimarr

So the judo black belt doesn't count as grappling training? What about 11 submission wins? I wouldn't say his 1-2 takedowns and first round finish by submission are much of a reason to be worrying about his grappling.

So like i was saying he mentioned himself in an interview about 1 1/2 year ago that for the longest time he didn't have a training camp with specific experts in each aspect of the game ( will post when i find it ) and i'm not critisizing his grappling. having a Black belt in Judo doesn't make you good at submissions per se though. He did get the takedown but rewind it and tell be he didn't look hesitant.

Just to be clear i'm a big fan but as They mentioned during strikeforce he hassent always shown interested and i want to see him get great cause he can.

Ok so your saying if your a blackbelt in judo you dont need a submission grappling expert in camp???
