Hands down, ME-109. Faster, higher flying, more well armed, flown by superior pilots (early WW2).
Later versions of the Spitfire was excellent. Could be a little correlation because the British fighting tactics improved later in the war also. Where as the Luftwaffe was already a seasoned force before the Battle of Britian ensued.
The P-40 was slow and early versions were easy picking for the Luftwaffe. For any comparison the P-40 won missions vs Japanese Zeros but struggled against the Luftwaffe (North Africa). The P-38 was the coolest looking plane in WW2 my opinion but it's fighting abilities may not have been better than the P-40. P-38 could go further than the P-40 and carry more payload making more ideal for the missions in the Pacific that were long flights and required dropping on Japanese fortifications.
The Yak was at first crudely built but pretty ingenious design. However the 109 was faster at altitude and was able to climb faster. Once again Luftwaffe capitalized on poorly trained pilots. Aces like Enrich Hartmann racked up over 200 kills on the eastern front.
In general German WW2 equipment was far superior to any of the allies war material. The gap was closed later in the war.
