Goals

  • lose 15 pounds
  • increase my anaerobic capacity
  • bench 215, squat 285, deadlift 333
  • earn a BJJ blue belt
  • compete as often as possible (gi and no-gi)

Obstacles
  • very weak left shoulder (football injury)
  • time constraints imposed by school and work

The Plan of Attack
  • eat lots, eat clean
  • 2-day strength split
  • BJJ training 3-5 days a week
  • LSD for weight management 2-3 times per week
  • Conditioning 2-3 times per week

Tomorrow is day one. Wish me luck.

What I'm chewing at this very moment is tomato sauce made according to the recipe in 'Revolution 909' clip, only with a crapload of meat in it. Log title is approved.

Looking forward to open mat tonight. Haven't had a good roll in a few days.
 
open mat was a good time, as expected. the only thing I don't like about open mat is I'm always the biggest guy there. I try hard to not use my strength advantage, and I focus on technique. still, I sometimes "cheat" if I get in a really bad spot.

I'm really feeling the deadlifts today. my back and ass are pretty sore. not injury-sore. the good kind.

no-gi class tonight. I think I'll go early and try the Magic 60 from last month's conditioning challenge.
 
every time I've attempted the Magic 60, I manage to screw it up somehow. the first time I tried it, I did 10 swings and snatches per arm. this time, my stopwatch stopped prematurely... and for some reason, I was doing cleans instead of snatches. it was still a good little workout, though.

there were just four newbs (including me) in no-gi class tonight. worked on mount escapes/maintaining the mount.

If you are doing an exercise where your wrist goes into extension (e.g. snatches), the back of your hand is likely hitting one of the buttons on your watch. I don't usually wear my watch at the gym, I just carry it around.
 
good call. I think it might've happened during the push-up phase of one of my burpees.
