Broke both hands in Luque fight, almost broke his leg in Neal fight. How long until every MMA fighter are wrestler/bjj?
Not hating on Wonderboy, just want to using him as an example of why MMA will turn into 100% wrestling in some years.

It's bad if he were trying to lose both those fights.

So we are going to just ignore the other ten years of his career using the style effectively and focus on the the two fights--which he won in a dominant fashion by the way-- and pretend that karate is an injury prone fighting style?

Huh?

He's old dude. Old guys get injured.

11-4-1 UFC record with his losses coming from 2 prior UFC Champs, a guy who fought for a title and as a greenhorn took and L to an experienced vet who was top 10 at one point. I’d definitely consider his transition to MMA quite successful, in all honesty the only true Karate guy who have trumped WB would be Machida

Whittaker and Machids are both karate specialists and both won titles.

MMA isn't going to devolve into grappling only. It's going to evolve with fighters that are equal in skill in striking/grappling and fluid transitions. It'll be styleless in the future. Hybrid styles of martial arts not stuck on traditional techniques that were created for specialist styles - It will be adjusted for mma with techniques with the full spectrum of grappling/striking/mma in mind.

Lots of great responses in this thread. It is what it is, people get injured. His style works well for him and I hope more Karate practitioners make it into the UFC. For instance, Michael Venom Paige.

And Cruz broke at least one hand in almost every fight and Floyd Jr. breaks his hands all the time yet look at the records of these 3. Hell, I remember Fedor having hand issues.

A wild bald Canadian appears

He has a younger man's style. He definately had more power before. It's impressive how he still manages to do well with it against fighters who are in their prime

Pro fighter since he was 15... That Luque fight was the first and only time he broke his hand. Plus his leg injury in the Neal fight happened during a grappling exchange iirc... So what are you even saying lol
