Wonderboy may never fight for title

Wonderboy can't have more than a few years left, unless he want's to completely change his style. Speed, timing and footwork are his weapons...and age takes all those things first.

Longtime fans should be embarrassed for pointing out Twitter followers as criteria for who deserves a title shot and gauging their popularity. Believe it or not, every human on earth does not follow everything they are interested in on Twitter.

I will be so fucking dissappointed with the MMA community as well as the UFC if Wonderboy doesn't get his shot.

But that ends up being the case it'll be a fucking tragedy.

This. The guy has the most flashy and effective striking in the division. I honestly don't see how Nick Diaz is even a draw at this point. He hasn't won a fight in 4+ years. The UFC could easily hype up a Wonderboy vs Woodley fight as a power vs precision battle if they pushed it hard enough.

Woodley isn't Conor, he doesn't get to pick who he wants to fight. He already ducked Hector Lombard so he would have an easier route to a title fight. He doesn't pull numbers. Who the fuck does he think he is? Can't wait for Wonderboy to murk him.

If you have better facts to gauge popularity I'm open to them. Nothing I've seen indicates Wonderboy moves a needle. Not number posts here about him. Not twitter followers. Not youtube hits.

That scenario in the OP would suck.

Wonderboy should probably get a full time job...something he can jump into quickly and make money like sales and sit out for...say, 18 months or so for his title shot.

But Wonderboy doesn't move the needle like a fight with Nick Diaz or GSPand his last fight was apparently boring.

A no name fighter to the casuals who looks like the Sham Wow guy won't bring in the PPVs regardless of skill and technique which is why if Wonderboy fights Lawler like he said he would and wins impressively it would get him the title shot even that maybe not enough though.

Woodley wants to fight someone who moves the needle and is a "big name" like Nick Diaz or GSP

Its all about the big money fights now.

Conor has showed the other fighters in the UFC the Promised Land and now they are all going there.

This wouldn't have been a problem if fighter pay blah blah.

how about give woodley the nick diaz fight and give wonderboy a fight vs. gsp?

Nice guys finish last GSP rare exception because he has whole country behind him. Look at Klitcho bros real life Renaissance men and bad ass boxers for 12 years couldnt even sell fights in USA.

Wonderboy has 15x less twitter followers than Maia lol

Thats because skill doesn't sell fights in the U.S..... drama does.

And maybe that's the U.S.'s problem, not MMA's.

Woodley isn't a draw either. If we're going by draws why dont we just make GSP vs Diaz II and cut out both Woodley and Wonderboy....

Which is why he is calling out Nick Diaz or GSP, someone who is deemed the big money fight who can help Woodley get the big money.

Calm down TS, he'll get his shot.
If may not get it when you want but if he's that good it will happen.

Obviously. My point was, why would the UFC bother? If they wanted to make a money fight, they have far better ways to utilize their big draws than to put them up against Tyron Woodley. Also, none of these other fights would have the backlash of another illegitimate title shot being made.

What the hell about Woodley moves the needle? The UFC can create the hype for just about anyone if they choose to.

If you keep fighting, at some point, you'll lose. You'll have an off night, an errant judge will screw it up, etc. This line of thinking is absurd, if you fight all the time, eventually you'll lose.

No one is asking WB to fight 10 more times before a shot. But if WB fought Lawler next and lost, guess what, he was undeserving anyway.

He is coming into his prime and there arent many if any guys at WW that can beat him, so he's doing ok, if anything he fights the winner of Maia/Condit, he tools Condit on the feet and Maia woulsnt be able to get a hold of him

The UFC would bother because they are a business not a sports league who wants the $$$ and make the fights that make them the most cash.

Conor has just showed all the other fighters such as Woodley and others the Promised Land and now they are all going there.

Wonderboy needs to get people like the casuals interested in this fight.

Needs to start talking more shit on Woodley and get more twitter followers etc.

Its mma fans. Fans wanted to see Brock vs hunt and dc vs silva circus fights at UFC 200. those turned out to be the two most boring fights on the card.
